Hello Windows Update Gurus!

I have a windows 2022 server standard that fails to install any security updates through SCCM or checking Microsoft online. Downloading and manually installing the latest CU KB5053603 is also failing with error 0x8024200B.

I've read your tutorials and have run SFC and DISM commands with no luck in solving the problem. I've done a repair and reset of Windows Update components several times. I've also run the ComponentsScanner tool and no corruptions were detected.

I've attached the CBS.zip file and CompnentsScanner.txt files for your review.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @leoveritas,

Welcome to Sysnative Forums!

If you haven't already, please review the posting instructions here, and attach the requested log files. Without log files, our helpers will not be able to assist, and this will slow down fixing your machine.

If logs have been already been provided, our team of volunteers will analyse the provided log files to build a fix for your system. Please be aware that this may take several days from your initial post, due to the high volume of threads that we receive.

They seem to be busy at the moment. We have a crazy amount of Windows update help requests and only a few trained techs.

Also, they are volunteers and have families, friends, educational pursuits and jobs.

I'm sorry for the wait but it will be worth it as the techs here are the best and brightest.

Thanks,

Rob

Thank you Rob. I made a small donation cause I think this is a good resource for windows update solutions.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.
