[SOLVED] Windows update failure error code (0x80070570) W10

I have done this and it says it found no errors.
I have also tried /f and it also said no errors were found.

OK good, the C:\ partition is OK.

You mentioned that you have UEFI Firmware but earlier in the thread you said that you had rebuilt the MBR on the C: drive. A MBR is only for the older legacy BIOS. Something doesn't seem right to me. Have you got one drive as MBR and the other as GPT partition style? I'm wondering if the system needs to be rebuilt so that it is consistent.

I checked all my drives and it's all GPT.

I followed instructions on a site so I could use my C drive to boot since before it was using D drive to boot (the drive with the EFI System Partition) which I thought was the reason why I was getting BSOD's before window boots up.
There wasn't an option to boot from C so I followed instructions to get it to boot which was rebuilding it and it worked. Now I can boot from D: or C: but I chose C: as the primary so it won't boot from D: anymore.

This is maybe why you are having problems. You cannot use MBR to boot a GPT partition so I'm confused. How exactly did you rebuild the C:\ drive? What instructions did you follow?

The problems of windows update, sfc and dism errors persisted before I did that.

I think I just entered bcdboot c:\windows /s c:
Don't think I did anything MBR related, probably thought wrong.

I looked back at your other thread in the BSOD section. If you check your event viewer you will see that you are getting many many errors related to the Windows Servicing stack not being able to start. There are about 2500 errors in the log of this type. This is why Windows Update will not run.

Service Start Type: demand start
Service Account:

Please try removing the SteelSeries WinRing0_1_2_0 and OpenHardwareMonitorLib.sys. It looks to me as if it is interfering with the update process.

I just uninstalled the steelseries engine which carries an addon to the hardware monitorlib and restarted my computer.

Windows update is the same as before, but now it carries a yellow warning (appeared before i unistalled as well)

"Your device is missing important security and quality fixes."

I press check updates and loads for a long time then it again says "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80070570)"

I should also mention before I load into the login screen, theres a please wait message for a long time which is unusual since I have a m.2 ssd and it never happened before (this persisted for months).

I also tried to download the updates manually online and it says my system isn't compatible.

Is it possible that the SteelSeries uninstall has not completed properly and has left some residual files and drivers? You might need to try a 3rd party uninstaller such as Revo Uninstaller

Please also check your Event viewer to see if the WinRing service events has now stopped. If you want you can upload a new BSOD Log Collection zip file for me to take a look.

I redownloaded the program and used revo uninstaller to delete the registry and leftover files.

Only errors i'm getting right now in logs is:

Unable to start a DCOM Server: {0823B6F8-F499-4D5E-B885-EA9CB4F43B24}. The error:

Most likely related to when im pressing find updates on windows update.

It would be worth Zipping and uploading the latest set of CBS.logs

No change there unfortunately.

I think the DCOM error needs to be fixed. Will look into ways of doing this.

I was not able to find a fix. We do not have many Windows Update experts on the team - I will see if any can find time to help.

Hi Precipitating

I'll see if I can help with your windows update issue.

As a starting point please create a new user - call it sysnative, assign it admin privileges and try the update again.

Hi bruce, sorry for the late reply, I didn't get an email notifying a reply on this thread so I assumed it was dead.

I have created a local account with admin priviledges and tried to update windows again. It was the same as usual, it takes ages to check for update then finds them but then it instantly fails to download.

Only leads I have is the DCOM issue which posts every minute saying:
Unable to start a DCOM Server: {0823B6F8-F499-4D5E-B885-EA9CB4F43B24}. The error:
"2147943792"

Hi

Please do the following.

Export/Upload CBS folder
  1. On Windows 8 and Windows 10, press the Windows key, type This PC, and press Enter.
On Windows Vista and Windows 7, click the Start button then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created on your desktop.
  8. Please upload it to a file sharing service and provide the link to it in your next reply. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace
