Windows update won't work

The update uninstalled without any problems.
Unfortunately I still cannot install any updates.

Is it alright to format and reinstall Windows ?

You can format your hard drive and reinstall Windows, or you can simply run a Repair Install and it should solve your Windows Update issues.

A repair install keeps your files and programs, only forcing you to download and reinstall your Windows Updates. It's up to you :)

I might just do the Refresh of Windows 8.

Sorry I forgot that you're running Windows 8 (even though a repair install is still possible), a refresh will also work :)
