Windows Updates won't install. I have tried everything!

Can you please upload a new COMPONENTS hive. The fix is not sticking, I might have to manually make the changes to the hive and send the hive back to you,

Thank you :)

We should get there soon.

The key is not being imported correctly:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\55\DerivedData\Components\amd64_6a6f4875757b66f16c6a4827a5d031c4_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.18229_none_e36dc2e6c72bf795]
"S256H"=hex:421e10f645592d8749f691c3af556f0e59574db20d29

See how the the above HEX string is not short? The one that was supposed to be imported was:
421E10F645592D8749F691C3AF556F0E59574DB20D299498E77E51669A5AD28A

Lets try importing it another way.

Open a command prompt as admin and run the following commands:

Code:
reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS %windir%\System32\config\COMPONENTS
reg add "HKLM\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\amd64_6a6f4875757b66f16c6a4827a5d031c4_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.18229_none_e36dc2e6c72bf795" /v S256H /t REG_BINARY /d 421E10F645592D8749F691C3AF556F0E59574DB20D299498E77E51669A5AD28A /f

If you get a successful message please run the following command:
Code:
reg query HKLM\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\amd64_6a6f4875757b66f16c6a4827a5d031c4_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.18229_none_e36dc2e6c72bf795 >1&&notepad 1

Post the contents of 1 back into this thread.

Then run SURT again and post a new CheckSur log.

Thank you for not giving up! Every time I see a new email from you, I'm afraid it will say "Your case is hopeless" (and who could blame you!), so I really appreciate your willingness to keep helping me despite all the frustrations.

Off to run SURT now and back w/new CheckSUR soon.

Not good news, alas...

First WU failed trying to download updates (Code 80244026)

Then it found 11 updates but could only install one (KB3006127). Error codes: 80073712 and 8007371B. It gave a message about not being able to update files while the system was in use, so I had a glimmer of hope but, alas, upon restart, those same 10 updates were still there and still failed upon re-try.

Hello again beac,

  2. Press Enter
  3. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please upload CBS.txt to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive

Found the error, back to the registry repairs again.

I am pretty sure I know the issue as well, but I have only ever seen this error in a SURT log not in the CBS log, I just need to confirm.

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type regedit
  2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\

  4. Once selected, click File > Export....
  5. Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*)
  6. Name this file CBS_BEAC (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.

Once done please upload this file via Dropbox or One Drive

Alas, I am. With the latest rounds of WU, a couple installed but most did not. Let me know if you need a new CBS file, etc. (Don't want to do anything w/out your say so for fear of making things worse!)

And how did this end? I was reading this for similar problems. I was surprised by the good help/. So i wonder what happened?
