[SOLVED] Windows Vista - Distorted Audio Issue

1) apparently got resolved with tweaking windows repair. ( see post 14 )
checking blackviper, services/settings seem OK.

2) wlan download speed 16 to 21.4 mbps, ping 11-14

3) yes, downloaded video audio plays back OK

Two thoughts, neither of which deals with sound.

Reading post #3, there appears to be issues with Windows itself.
Go here Black Viper's Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Service Configurations | Black Viper | www.blackviper.com
and click on column visibility. I clicked on all the items I did not want to see so I was left with only a few columns. (see attachment)

Check that the Service has the proper name, and that it is set to what it should be.

Second, please post a speedtest so we can see what sort of download speeds you get on wireless. If the speeds are low, sound can be distorted.

I assume that if you download what you want to play and play it on the computer, rather than streaming from the internet, it plays correctly.

p.s. Have you given any thought to reinstall Windows Vista? The last time that you did so according to the system information reports was about 2 years ago.

Wireless speed isn't a factor.

Final thoughts: since you can't stream wirelessly without distortion, you have two choices (aside from a fresh install): wire the laptop up when you want to listen to something online or download it and play it rather than streaming it.
