[SOLVED] [WinServer2008R2 x64] cannot install KB3126587

hi,

I cannot install Windows Update KB3126587. I get following error from Windows Update:

Security Update for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Edition (KB3126587)
Installation date: ‎16.‎02.‎2017 13:06
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 80070490
Update type: Important

A security issue has been identified in a Microsoft software product that could affect your system. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft. For a complete listing of the issues that are included in this update, see the associated Microsoft Knowledge Base article. After you install this update, you may have to restart your system.

"sfc /scannow" --> no errors
SfcFix --> no errors

Please help me, thanks in advance.

OK, please start with the following.

Remove Update Manually
 1. Click on the Start
Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:3101246

4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

If I run this command I get following message: "The update KB3101246 is not installed on this computer"

Please try the following.

UnInstall Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows6.1-KB3101246-x64.cab.zip.
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Keep the defaults and click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens.
  3. Right-click your Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin). If a user account control prompt comes up, please allow.
  4. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /remove-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB3101246-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB3101246-x64.cab
  5. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
    Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
    Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Go ahead and do so if prompted. Let me know what errors if any come up.

I've uninstalled the package and then I reinstalled it. Afterwards I installed the problematic Package KB3126587 and it was successful! Thank you very much!!!
