Hello -

Many thanks for the assistance you provide here.

As requested in the Forum Posting Instructions I have:

1. Run the SFXFix Tool, it found no errors - log is below

2. I went to upload my CBS folder and found that it was almost 2GB in size, I'm assuming this indicates possible corruption? I have not uploaded this file at the moment but will do so if so instucted.

I have attempted to use the OFFLine tool for Windows Update which always hangs at "listing id's of missing updates" that log is attached.

I have also included my Windows Update log file as I'm hoping it will provide more information for you to review.

Step#1 - DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

  1. Right-click on the Start
    w8start.png
    button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter. If prompted to overwrite the existing file go ahead.
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please zip/upload to this thread.
    Please Note:: if the file is too big (over 7MB) to upload to your next post, please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter.

4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Right-click on this file and choose Send To...Compressed (zipped folder). Please upload this zipped file CBS.zip to this thread

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

I installed the update with no issues and rebooted....

When OS started to load, a message appeared saying:

Failure configuring Windows updates
Reverting Changes
 
Please zip up and attach the following files. You may need to upload them to a hosting provider such as SendSpace and provide the download link so I can get them.
C:\windows\logs\cbs <----entire folder

Extract Readable WindowsUpdate.log
 1. Click in the search box at the bottom of the screen and type Powershell.
2. Click on Windows PowerShell Desktop app that appears in the search results.
3. Copy/Paste the following into the Powershell window and hit enter. Note: In Windows 10, after you have copied your text, you can simply right-click inside the powershell window and the text will be pasted.
Get-WindowsUpdateLog

4. You may be prompted with a Microsoft Internet Symbol Store terms of use dialog. If you are, please click Yes.
5. When the process is done there should be a WindowsUpdate.log on your desktop. Please zip/attach this file.


Lastly, c:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log (if it exists)
