Hello everyone,

My system is Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bits.

I had not checked for Microsoft Updates for several weeks. I did so earlier this week and began to download the updates. Some would not install so
I went to the Download Update site and downloaded them to my desktop and installed them.

However, I cannot install KB3029944 either way.

I ran the windows update readiness tool which found some errors.

This is the SFCFix LogSFCFix version 2.4.3.0 by niemiro.

Hi Go The Power,

I am probably posting a duplicate again. I didn't see my rely regarding the drop box address listed in the forums. I assume I messed up yet again !

Anyway here is the address to the CBS log in dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/0uy54r66nucnvei/cbs.txt?dl=0.

Thanks and again apologies for any duplicates or triplicates. The method of posting is different than I'm used to.

Hello again :),

This type of double posting is fine, as everything is still in the same thread. If it goes into different threads it will confuse me :p

SFC /SCANNOW is not reporting any corruptions, it did how ever repair a few files. Can you please try and upgrade to SP1 again. If it fails please provide the following:

Please follow the instructions Here to run the System Update Readiness Tool. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Hi Go The Power,

Attached are the CheckSur.log and the CheckSUR.persist.log (I hope)

I am already updated to SP1. The problems were with the February patches. I had to install most by getting them from the Download Center. I uninstalled KB3004394 after reading that it could cause a problem. I was then able to install KB3025390, However, I still could not install the February update for Visual Studio and KB3029944 which is a security patch.

I did more research and was able to download the visual studio package (?) from a Microsoft site in Germany and installed it. However, KB 3029944 still won't install.

Thanks

Hi To The Power,

I am obviously very stupid.

I log into the forums and go to this thread. When I click on the link to the package you provided, I get a pop-up saying I am not logged in. (I look at the top of the page and I am logged in.) So I log in on the pop-up and then I get another pop-up saying I'm not logged in. Again, I check the top of the page and I am logged in. :confused2:

Thanks

Hello again,

Please ignore my previous post. Somehow I put my pc in a loop. It kept showing the same page. I believe its fixed now.

I went into safe mode with networking to get the download.

Hopefully, the computer will function properly and I will be able to complete your instructions.

oldraider67

Strange, it is not accepting these files...

The files I gave definably the right ones, I have just confirmed that the secure hash is right for both of those files.

SFCFix script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Go to your desktop and right click on the background -> Select New -> Text Document -> Name this file SFCFixScript.txt.
  3. Open up SFCFixScript.txt and copy all of the following text inside the code box below and paste it into SFCFixScript.txt.
    Code:
    FileScan::
    Package_for_KB3008923~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~11.2.1.0.mum
    Package_for_KB3008923~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~11.2.1.0.cat
  4. Click on File -> Save. Close out of SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  6. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  7. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  8. SFCFix will now process the script.
  9. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  10. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.
