Hi everybody, hi niemiro,

I have the same problem which two other members have/had before:

https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/12902-problem-with-windows-updates.html
https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...b2901983-and-kb3001652-continiously-fail.html

I.e. Windows updates KB3001652 & KB2901983 can't be installed (Error code 643). All other Windows updates can be installed without any problem! The system runs like a charm and there are no obvious problems. A sfc -scannow run returned that no problems were detected. Here is a screenshot of Windows update screen:

Unbenannt.JPG

What I have already checked:

- free disk space (40GB)
- sfc -scannow (no errors)
- ran latest CheckSUR
- manually downloaded and ran Windows updates--> error logs attached (Install log Visual Studio (KB3001652).txt, Install log .net 4.5.2 (KB2901983).txt)
- MicrosoftFixit50123: Beim Installieren des .NET Framework-Updates tritt Fehlercode "0x80070643" oder "0x643" auf
- MicrosoftFixit:Zum Reparieren von MSI-Software-Updateregistrierung Probleme mit Dateisystembeschädigungen
- ran SFCFix (no errors)

What I didn't test so far is niemiro's advice within another case: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/12902-problem-with-windows-updates.html#post95085

Here are all log files you need. Please feel free to ask if you need more logs:

Hey everyone,

Is there no one who can help me? I hoped to get a quick hint from one of the "pros" when I deliver all needed information at once ...:bored2::grin1:

Hello and welcome.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your thread.

Windows Update Log

  1. Click on the Start button -> Inside the search box copy and paste the following command
    cmd /c copy %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\WindowsUpdate.txt"
  2. Please go to your desktop and attach WindowsUpdate.txt to your next post

@Go The Power: I wish you great Easter holidays and look forward to hearing from you after your return

Hi pustekuchen :)

Sorry for the delay, I have just returned from my holidays.

Are updates still failing on this machine?

Hi!

I hope you had great holidays ;-)

Yes, these two updates are still failing with the same error code... Did you already look into my WindowsUpdate.txt which you had requested?
BTW: To upgrade my AVAST Free Antivirus I removed the old installation completely before installing the new version. When there was no antivirus software installed (I was not connected to the internet of course) I ran the updates manually again and they failed again. So it is also not a security-software-issue...

Hey everybody,

is someone else as experienced as GoThePower? He seems to be very busy :grin1:

Hi donetao,

As you can read in my first post, I have already tried this FixIt at the very beginning. That's why I need someone with a lot experience like GoThePower or nimiero ;-)

OK ! There was more than just FixIt in my reply. That is a link from Microsoft. GoThePower and nimiero are very busy. I'm sure they will answer when they can!!

Sorry for the delay!

Do you have update KB3000988 installed? if not please download and run the installer from "The profile for the user is a temporary profile" error when you install a MSI package in Windows

Hi GoThePower,

No problem - I am happy for your helping hand!

Yes, this update is installed (see my attached screenshot). Moreover I don't have a temporary profile...

I wait for further instructions. Thank you very much!

Moreover I don't have a temporary profile...

This is a different type of profile, it is not referring to your user profile.

I am still looking into your issue, .net issues are quite difficult to get to the bottom off.

There is no harm in trying.

I did it:

1) Uninstalled KB3008627
--> The same error when installing .NET 4.5.2
2) Uninstalled KB3000988
--> No (!) error when installing .NET 4.5.2 - installation successfull!
--> No (!) error when installing Visual Studio Update (KB3001652) - installation successfull!

Due to the fact that Microsoft published these two updates (KB3008627 & KB3000988) only because KB2918614 caused some issues (--> "Known issues" section), I also uninstalled KB2918614 afterwards and the recently installed .NET 4.5.2 & VS update. Then I installed these two packages again (no errors) and searched for new updates: surprisingly Window Update only offered two of those three problematic .MSI updates: KB2918614 and KB3008627. So KB3000988 was not offered again and isn't installed... what the hell? Looks like Microsoft withdrawed it from Windows Update distribution?! Obviously it is now not an update anymore but listed as hotfix. Does anyone know more about this occurrence?

There is another thing to clarify: when searching for KB2918614 I found exactly the same update with a different KB number: KB2962490
Can somebody explain me the difference?

Strange things going on :confused2:
