Due to certain hardware issues, I preformed the sfc /scannow command but it stopped at 72% with this message:
"Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

I have already done the chkdsk command before this. It would be greatly appreaciated if someone could assist me!

I've attached the log files I believe are needed:
  • SFCdetails.txt
  • the DSIM log (from the SFCfix.exe; the program was unable to fix anything--it came up with error 1117 and couldn't operate due to "an I/O device error")
  • the CBS.zip folder the folder was too large (12mb); if it is necessary for me to upload it then I absolutely will

Thank you so much!

Hello and welcome to the forum

Did CHKDSK find any errors when it ran? I would like to see the results:
  • Download ListChkdskResult.exe (by SleepyDude) from Here
  • Double click on it to run it. It will take a few seconds to scan, then it will open a Notepad window with the log. Copy and paste the contents of this into your next post

Thank you for your reply! But yeah, I don't recall chkdsk finding any errors.

It would appear your disk has developed bad sectors, it would be a good idea to back up any files you value and consider purchasing a replacement drive.

Thank you for replying. Is there an alternative solution for bad sectors besides replacing it?
I have heard about relocating the sectors somewhere else on the drive--would you recommend this?

I would like a snapshot of your system specs.
Follow these instructions:

Download Speccy Portable here: https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/portable
Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
Click File -> Publish Snapshot.
Click Yes, then click Copy to Clipboard.

Right click in your reply, then choose paste. This is the link to the published snapshot so I can review the results.

Attribute name: Reallocation Event Count
Real value: 30
Attribute name: Reallocated Sectors Count
Real value: 264
Attribute name: Current Pending Sector Count
Real value: 16

These are SMART attributes for your drive.
The Reallocation Event count indicates that there have been 30 attempts to read data from encountered bad sectors and write that data to reserved spare sectors.
Reallocated Sectors count is the number of sectors (264) on the disk that have been successfully reallocated.
Current Pending Sectors count is the number of sectors (16) that the drive has not been able to successfully read to reallocate.

I would not recommend storing anything you value on this drive, it is sure to develop more bad sectors over time.
