My FXpansion Licenser stopped working properly and Windows Update stopped at "Install Updates". I can see that Updates are ready to install, but when I click Install now I get the progress bar for a few seconds then it returns to "Install updates". Research showed a Microsoft update appeared to be responsible for unrepairable files (sfc /scannow), the particular update was not found on my update history. I have not updated since 30th May as I did not want the "reserve your Windows 10" update but now I realise it can be deleted. I tried the Windows Update Preparation tool but with no success. I eventually found your SFCFix tool, which at least named the corrupted files, but I suffer Macular Degeneration to I find it hard these days to wade through lines of text. Hope you can help

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the delay. If you are still in need of assistance, please let me know.
Hi Brian, yes, SFFix is still reporting 152 errors. The BFD licenser still has problems, here's what their admin said - "Hi, there\'s a bug in the automatic update function, we're working on it. simply ignore this until it's fixed. As long as the products are authorized and ready to use it should be fine. Kind regards, Alex FXpansion Audio" The Windows important updates (9 of them) mysteriously installed but not the 7 optional ones. Very strange! Thanks Brian

OK, please do the following. This will take a couple rounds of fixes to get them all.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download this file named, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please. Step#3 below will overwrite this file so you may want to rename SFCFix.txt to SFCFix2.txt so you don't lose it.

Step#2 - SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Step#3 - Gather Info
1. Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
2. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
3. Double click on SFCFix.exe to open it.
4. Follow all on screen instructions and upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop named SFCFix.txt.
5. Please post the contents of this log in your next post. Thank you.

Hi Brian, I still can't use the upload (manage attachments) function, I have disabled all my security.

Once you upload the file you should see a copy link button. Click on that and then you can right-click and paste into your reply.
