[SOLVED] Infamous 0x80073712 on Windows 10

Yeah no problem, I had Windows 8.1 64bit (not pro) after upgrading I didn't do any clean up. I wanted to make sure everything was fine before I did, like on my other two PCs, this one was my last one, and ofc it had to have something wrong with it :P

I did do a DISM but it was the same one you made me run. I did it after I encountered the error and found this Microsoft help article.
 
Thanks. Looking at your COMPONENTS hive there are a ton of components that this update affects. Let me check with my colleagues if there's anything else to try besides a repair install. I'll be back with you tomorrow.
 
OK, so far I haven't received any other ideas from my colleagues. Would you be willing to try a repair install? Basically just run the Windows 10 setup again and choose to keep all your data and programs?
 
Yes absolutely, I can try that. It's a newer laptop so there isn't as much stuff in there I was just trying to avoid it if possible, ofc. However I'll have to research how to find the ISO/installer since it just ran from Windows 8. Would rolling back to 8 and then again forward to 10 work? Windows 10 gives you the option to rollback for 30 days.
 
You should be able to do an in-place upgrade so that all of your data and programs remain intact. When you run the installer you just choose to keep everything. Let me know how that goes.
 
I actually tried to just use the "upgrade this pc now" option and then it crashed. Just now though, I put it on a USB drive, it installed just fine and the Windows Update worked! Thanks for all your time :D
 
But I'm having the same issue. 0x80073712 on Windows 10 and I followed the instructions in this thread, by collecting the file and replying, attaching the file requested, just like tho others

That's why I'm commenting on this thread. Because I'm having the exact same issue. Error 0x80073712 on Windows 10 Pro. So please, if you can help me with this, let's just do it together and cooperate.
