I just updated both my laptop and desktop to Windows 10. Desktop is running 100% no problems. Laptop updated to 10 just fine however... It won't update windows or let met download anything from the store. If I try to do a Windows update I get error 0x80073712.

Up until now I did the fixes recommended by Microsoft (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/957310) but neither solve the issue. If I run the Windows Update troubleshooter it tells me that it fixed "Service registration is missing or corrupt" but the updates still don't work and if I run it again after a reboot it says the same thing again. Clicking on view detailed info there tells me "Problem with BITS service: The requested service has already been started."

I am at a loss as to what it could be. Here is a link to the COMPONENTS file as requested in the sticky on this forum: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37252394/COMPONENTS.7z

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: Just ran a SFC /scannow to get a fresh CBS.log, here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37252394/CBS.log

  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.

Just tried it, it has the same issue.

• Security Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3074683) - Error 0x80073712

Actually, looks like Windows 10 changes things a little.

Please do the following to get the WindowsUpdate.log.

Extract Readable WindowsUpdate.log
1. Click in the search box at the bottom of the screen and type Powershell.
2. Click on Windows PowerShell Desktop app that appears in the search results.
3. Copy/Paste the following into the Powershell window and hit enter. Note: In Windows 10, after you have copied your text, you can simply right-click inside the powershell window and the text will be pasted.
Get-WindowsUpdateLog

4. You may be prompted with a Microsoft Internet Symbol Store terms of use dialog. If you are, please click Yes.
5. When the process is done there should be a WindowsUpdate.log on your desktop. Please zip/attach this file.

We have another one to fix.

Another one. Hopefully there is not too many of these. If this keeps going after a few more, we'll try something different.

Can you tell me what Operating System you upgraded from on this laptop?

Also, after the upgrade did you run any kind of DISM commands or do any kind of clean-up like deleting upgrade files or anything?

Just trying to get as much info as I can. Thanks.
