Noticed that Windows Update & Security listed 5 failed updates for the following: Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3074683)

Ran Windows Update Diagnostic, which reports Service registration is missing or corrupt. It also reports that it fixed the problem. (I doubt it.)

I next tried running SFC /SCANNOW which gave me the following information:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios.

I then found the suggestion to run the DISM command, which I did with the following parameters:

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

/scanhealth reported:
The component store is repairable.
The operation completed successfully.
/restorehealth reported:
Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Microsoft ? Official Home Page DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

This led me, eventually, to seeking your advice. I downloaded and ran SFCFix, but it never finished running. Here is the output:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
 5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

View attachment SFCFix.zip

When that completes, please run DISM again and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log with your reply.

Very good, check for updates and try installing them again.

If the installation fails, attach CBS.log and include the KB# and error code.

Can not tell if problem is solved. The initial troubles started on 6 Aug 2015: there are 7 failed attempts to install KB3074683, all on that day. Since then there are no attempted updates of any kind -- successful or failed.

Will post again when something definitive happens.

You have my thanks.

Hi all,
I had this dism Image issue with error:0x800f081f, updates worked just this image corruption, it started when I first got win10 upgrade promotion by win8.1 and it continued now with win10 upgrade.

So anyway this script did the trick, thanks!

Thanks again! :smile9:

Hi!

I have same problem with my Operating System (Windows 10). I tried to fix it with sfc /scannow and got this error.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Then i tried Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and got this error

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.10586.0

Image Version: 10.0.10586.0

[==========================100.0%==========================]

Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

The logo files of both sfc/dism scans are attached.
I am trying for more than 3 weeks to solve this problem. Hope someone will help me to solve it. :)
Thanks :smile9:

Hello hami,

The file being detected is a known issue and shouldn't cause any problems.

If you'd like to replace it anyway, follow the instructions here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...tion-sfc-dism-windows-10-update-1511-th2.html
