Hi,
I have realised these days that I am having some problems with some important Windows updates for almost a month now. There are 5 important updates that repeatedly fail (KB2965300, KB3054963, KB3054973, KB3054976 and KB3054981).

Checking the internet for solutions I found and tried a couple of Microsoft automatic Fixes, but nothing helped. Then I found your forums and ran the “SFC /scannow” as suggested – it finished with the message: “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.”. Therefore I have ran also your “SFC Fix” program and obtained the SFCFIX.txt file with the suggestion to open a new thread on your forum. Please find the resulting SFCFIX.txt file attached. I also attach the zip file with the content of my CBS folder, but without the cabinet files.

Besides that I have recently noticed that sometimes during typing the text into some window it happens that that window suddenly loses focus an a lot of letters are missing in the text – however, restarting the computer seems to resolve these issues every time. Could this also be somehow connected to the problems with the corrupt files?

I would be grateful if somebody could help me to resolve the problems with my computer.

With kind regards,
Matija

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Alright, your SFC returned a clean CBS.log. Can you try to install the updates again? If they fail, tell me what error code you're getting, and upload the following files for me to review.

C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

That Microsoft Fix reported the following:

Problems installing recent updates - Fixed
Problems installing recent updates - Fixed

Problems installing recent updates - Fixed
________

Afterwards I checked for updates and found 7 important updates. One of them installed successfully, but the other 6 did not - the resulting error was different this time and stated: "Code 80246007 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."

...restarting the computer afterwards and trying to install the updates again resulted in the error Code 57A again.

Can you list me the 6 updates that cannot be installed?

The updates that are currently found as an important updates for my computer and that fail are the following 6 updates: KB2965300, KB3054876, KB3055033, KB3055039,KB3055041, KB3055044.

What concerns me also is the fact that under the Update History (please check the attached picture) I see that also the "Upgrade to windows 10 Pro" failed sometime today. However, I want to stay with Windows 7 and do not want the upgrade to Windows 10!
