Hello!

For a couple of weeks I've been dealing with this Service Pack 1 error, after installing Windows 7 Home Premium on a new Solid State Drive on a laptop.
It keeps saying "Faliure installing Service Pack , reverting changes" after 7-10% of the installation when starting windows.

The only clue I had after trying to fix it on my own was error 0x80070057 which seems to be related to some kind of invalid parameters.

I feel like I tried everything:

  • Searched numerous web sites/forum threads (including Microsoft support). [In fact, that's how I knew about this site in the first place :) ]
  • Windows Update Diagnostic tool
  • Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64 (or System Update Readiness Tool)

And as you may know, it prevents me from upgrading to Windows 10.

Additional info. of the laptop:

  • OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

  • Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600
  • System Manufacturer Dell Inc.
  • System Model XPS L401X
  • System Type x64-based PC
  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 740 @ 1.73GHz, 1730 Mhz
  • RAM: 4GB

I tried to attach the CBS file three times, but it does not seem to actually attach. So I uploaded it to OneDrive:

By the way, I'm a new user new on this forum.

Any help is deeply appreciated,

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named LiquidTension. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phrase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hello,

Please zip up and attach, or upload C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log in your next reply.

Thank you.
