Hi

I can't update my Windows. I keep receiving errors, or the Windows Update is at 0% 0KB forever, or I get DISM error 3017 :banghead:
Code:
SFCFix says no corruptions

SFCFix version 2.4.9.2 by niemiro.
Start time: 2016-02-15 10:11:44.647
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Update 1 - amd64
Not using a script file.

Dism keeps showing error 6081 even though after I remove all transaction files *.blf and *.regtrans-ms it says "no corruption detected" - just until you run Windows Update :/

Hi, thank you. No, I just want to install updates to my 8.1 from Windows Update, but it's impossible due to Windows Update errors. sfc /checknow does not show any integrity violations, dism error 6081 can be fixed offline from another OS installation, but it gets corrupted anyway after I try installing Windows Updates.

OK, let's start with the following.

FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

Thank you. I have followed these steps, rebooted the machine, here's the Fixlog.txt View attachment Fixlog.txt
I tried to install updates, but failed, so I deleted the Software Distribution and catroot2, ran Windows Update Diagnostics, but it didn't help, so I ran WUD once again, tried to install an update, and this time it is stuck at 5% View attachment CBS.ZIP

Thanks. Please do the following so I can check something.

1. Right-click your Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin). Answer Yes to the UAC prompt if it comes up.
2. This will bring you to the command-prompt window. Copy and paste the following into the command prompt window and hit enter. You will need to right-click your mouse in the command-window and select paste. You can't use keyboard shortcuts.

dir %systemroot%\system32\config\txr > %userprofile%\desktop\check.txt && %userprofile%\desktop\check.txt

3. Either notepad will open with some text in it or in the command-prompt window it will say "File Not Found". If notepad opens, copy/paste the contents of this into your next post.

Thank you.
Code:
C:\Windows\system32>dir %systemroot%\system32\config\txr > %userprofile%\desktop\check.txt && %userprofile%\desktop\check.txt
The system cannot find the path specified.
From what I see there's really no txr subdirectory in system32/config.
I tried to run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth but as usual I got Error: 6801 Transaction support within the specified resource manager is not started or was shut down due to an error.

OK, please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

I ran Windows Update Diagnostics a few times, deleted the Windows Update folders a few times and now it seems that everything works fine.
Thank you very much for your assistance :)
