Recently a watermark popped up in my lower right corner saying Activate Windows. I tried to activate Windows, but i got an error message 0xC004F074. After this I ran sfc /scannow and after that I ran dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
after those I ran dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, but restorehealth stopped at 40%. I left my computer running over night and by morning it was still stuck at 40%. After all that I came to this website, registered, downloaded SFCFix.exe and ran that.
At the moment it got through all 6 stages but hasn't moved after that. The screen says:

''
Welcome to SFCFix by niemiro and sysnative.com

Due to the nature of your corruptions, scan times have been extended by approximately 15-20 minutes. Please be patient and allow the operation to complete.

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031''

After that I ran sfc /scannow again, but it said Another servicing or repair operationn is currently running. Wait for this to finish and run sfc again.

Don't really have any idea what to do next. i'm not sure of my current Windows key which could be a problem.

Also I'm running on Windows 8.1 and just remembered that the sfc scan was saying something about my CBS so I'll try to add that somewhere here.

Edit: my cbs file seems to be too big. i followed these instructions posted by niemiro:

  1. Download SFCFix.exe using the following link and save the tool to your Desktop: Download SFCFix
  2. Download SFCFixScript.txt and save this to your Desktop as well: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...cript.txt?dl=1
  3. On your Desktop, you should now see two files: SFCFixScript.txt and SFCFix.exe.
  4. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  5. SFCFix will now begin to upload your CBS logfiles to our server.

If all goes well, you should see that your logfiles have now been added to your thread.

Got a message saying all went well.

Unsure if you people can see the CBS so here's a link to it in google drive: CBS.log - Google Drive

Also due to my windows working incorrectly I wasn't able to share it on my computer. I had to use my phone to make it public.

Ok so I tried to run /restorehealth and this time it worked. Came out saying this:

''Error: 0x800f0906

The source files could not be downloaded.
Use the ''source'' option to specify the location of the files that are required t
o restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see
Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log''

What do?

EDIT: Only thing that I might have done differently than for the first time is that this time I ran CMD as administrator.

Hello and Welcome!

Please zip and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

If the zip is larger than 8MB, upload it to a file sharing service such as DropBox, OneDrive, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

Looks like the log from the DISM run was archived.

Let's run it again and get the log.

DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Right-click on the Start
    w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  3. When DISM finishes scanning your component store, zip up and attach your CBS log to your next post:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

If the zip file is larger than 8MB, please use a file sharing service such as OneDrive, DropBox, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

So I tried to run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth but it stopped at 40%. I closed cmd and tried to run it again and again it stopped at 40%.
After that i rebooted my computer tried to run it again and this time the loading bar didn't even show up.
I tried to run SFCFix, didn't finish and after that i tried to run /Restorehealth again, loading bar didn't show up. In between the commands I waited for about an hour. So /RestoreHealth stops at this point:

C:\Windows\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031

After that nothing.
Here's the current CBS log:

Looks like that did it :)

Now on to your Windows activation problem.

Did you install Windows or did it come with the computer?

Thank you for fixing the corruptions :)

Now to the activation.
I bought my computer used, so I don't know if he installed windows or bought the computer with it. All I know is that the computers case has a windows 7 label on it. This doesn't really help since he builds computers.
If this info is important I can ask him. He lives next door so it wouldn't be a problem.

Let's find out what kind of license it is expecting:

MGADiag

  1. Download MGADiag (by Microsoft) from the link below:

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

  2. Run the tool by double clicking on the file. Press Continue when prompted
  3. When it has finished, press Copy then Paste (Ctrl+V) this into your next post
