Hello,
I have been trying to install Service Pack 1 for my Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) . Windows Update can,t auto check for updates, and when i click the button "Check for Updates" i get a message ( Windows could not search for new updates . An error occurred while checking for new updates for your computer. Error Code 80070002 ). I looked for this problem on the microsoft official site . And tried this solution:-

Disable Windows Update from Services under Administrative Tools and go to C:/Windows/Softwaredistribution/DataStore and delete everything. And re-enable the service and run windows update.

But this solution did not work. So i tried to install SP1 by downloading it manually from Microsoft site. When i run the windows6.1-KB976932-X86 file, the setup displays a message saying that the installation was unsuccessful due to a system error.

On further investigation, I heard about the System Readiness Tool on the microsoft site and downloaded it. The tool was installed but still the problem was not fixed.

I will attach my CBS folder and the log file of SFCFix . Plz Help me.

Am a little busy person, so i wont be able to reply instantly. I'll occasionally check for ur replies and reply accordingly.

This time it did not show the green bar for completion, i ran it second time after finding that it still creates the CheckSUR.log

I also want to remention that I don't have Windows Update Folder In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, so i dont have registry for Windows Update that can be one of reasons for the errors.. and lastly my windows is 32-bit so plz whatever links u post ahead should contain 32-bit software.

Thanks.

    Capture.JPG

  6. Double-click on Repair_Windows.exe to open. Note: Please make sure all of your programs are closed and anything you were working on is saved as we will be rebooting.
  7. When the program opens, click the Reboot to Safe Mode button at the bottom of the screen. Answer Yes to allow.
  8. Once rebooted into Safe Mode, open the program again. When the program opens, click the Repairs tab and click the Open Repairs button.
  9. A backup of your registry will be made. After a few moments you will have many options from which you can choose.
  10. Please click the Unselect All button and then click to enable only the following ones:

    17 - Repair Windows Updates

  11. Ensure the Restart check box is selected and click the Start Repairs button in the lower right of the screen. This may take some time to run so be patient.
    StartRepairsWithReboot.JPG
  12. Once the fixes are complete you will be prompted to restart your machine. Answer Yes.

Once the computer has restarted, download and run the System Update Readiness Tool:

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool for your version of Windows here: System Update Readiness Tool

NOTE: If you aren't sure if your Windows installation is 32-bit or 64-bit, check here: How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system

This tool will take some time to complete - when it has finished, attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log with your reply.
