Hi, about 2 weeks ago I noticed my computer started to hang at times and I would sometimes have to wait 10 minutes or longer for it to come back to earth and before I could really do much I had to reboot. It would be fine for a while then the same thing would happen again. Right clicking to copy or paste also seems to drag on forever. I ran the SFCF and it told me I needed human help. Can you help me please? Here is the SCFC text and my CBS log that I ran again after I ran SCFC.
Thanks for the help.

Hi there Raven,

I'd like to check your disk health.

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the content of the GSmartControl .zip archive and execute gsmartcontrol.exe; To extract you can right-click your mouse on the GSmartControl.zip file and select Extract.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, copy and paste their name in your next reply (or take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply);

Hi zcomputerwiz,

Here are images of the results. There are no red or pink lines in attributes but I am attaching the photo anyway. Thanks for the help!

Looks like there might be a conflict with two versions of KB2952664 installed on your machine. See if you can find it in the list of installed updates and uninstall any that are present.

Open the Control Panel, then Programs and Features.
Click the 'view installed updates' link in the window on the left side.
Right click on KB2952664 (if listed) and choose uninstall.

Let me know if KB2952664 does not show up in the list or fails to uninstall.

I would also like to see the System Update Readiness Tool logs.

Please attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log with your reply.

Hi, I found one instance of KB2952664 and I uninstalled it.

The SURT log is clean.

Let's check with SFC.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please zip and attach this to your next post.

Hi, it appears I am unable to attach the cbs.txt file which is on my desktop. The spinner thing goes around for a while on here then it just quits and the file is not added to my Manage Attachments. Is there another way I can get it to you?

Make sure to zip the log. If the zip file is larger than 8MB, please upload to a file sharing service such as OneDrive, DropBox, SendSpace, etc. and include the link here :)

Looks good :)

First, configure Windows for a clean boot:

Clean Boot

  1. Click the Start button, then type msconfig in the search box.
  2. Click msconfig in the results list.
    2440068.png
  3. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box.
    2440069.png
  4. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.

Next, run Disk Cleanup (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17421/windows-free-up-drive-space) to clean up temporary files.
Once that has completed, run Disk Defragmenter (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17126/windows-7-improve-performance-defragmenting-hard-disk).

Let me know if the computer's behavior has changed after these steps.

Hi there. I did all the steps and my computer is now running awesomely! It is much faster and there is no more hanging. Thank you so much for all of your help. You are are definitely a computerwiz :)

Glad to help!

I'll mark the thread solved. Please post back if you encounter any problems and I will continue to assist you.
