I was very pleased to find this forum, as OS reinstall is not a choice for me:huh:.

My Win7 (32bit) is still not able to install SP1 after these years (all other windows updates ok!),

Help - Is there some information missing from my thread as there are no replies?

OK, let's start here. Please attempt to install the Service Pack again. When it fails, please zip up and attach the following file.
c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log

OK, I see the issue. Do you have IIS installed on this client machine?

Code:
2017-05-24 07:58:07, Info CBS Trying to uninstall a component from a non-owner, Component: x86_microsoft-windows-iis-sharedlibraries_31bf3856ad364e35_0.0.0.0_none_34c36871fcfc9382, version: 6.1.7600.16385, owner:Microsoft-Windows-IIS-WebServer-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.7600.16385.IIS-HttpErrors [HRESULT = 0x8000ffff - Unknown Error]

Also I will need to see your components hive.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.

hi, I have both bad and good news - first sorry for the delay and not following your request earlier...

After you discovered IIS has the broken component, I noticed IIS is no more needed by me, so was too eager and I uninstalled IIS component from Win7 (add remove features) AND tried SP1 installer again.. good new is SP1 installation started ok. BUT... bad news is, after install rebooted machine something went wrong, I cannot login.

Currently Windows login is not possible - it gives an error dialog BAD IMAGE
" \windiows\system32\rpcrtremote.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error"

I have dual booted my system into win10 drive so luckily I can easily access the broken win7 installation - ntfs drive called D:

please look requested components file attached here Download multiple files from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way
also there is a new
zip password for "comp.zip" is protected000 and another zip file windows/logs/cbs

Yeah...we really should have fixed that error before you attempted that. Before we continue, see if you can get past that error by doing the following. Let me know.

1) Turn off your computer and turn it back on2) When it begins to turn on, tap F8 on your keyboard. Keep tapping about a second apart until the boot menu with options comes up.
3) Use your up and down keys to control and press ENTER on Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.

Awsome, DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE ENFORCEMENT allowed reboot to continue SP install from 30%... "preparing to configure windows.."
After a while, another restart, I selected DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE ENFORCEMENT just in case and now WINVER.EXE says SP1 is there.

However one issue remains; "not running genuine windows"
ox8004fe21

I try to follow their instructions on https://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/DownloadValidationSupport.aspx?displaylang=fi

Any tips for this one?

update: after a few reboots and upgrading IE9 to IE11, windows genuine error does not seem to be an issue any more..?!!!

Is this possible, is it now working.. :) THANKS! I will keep you posted in any issues raise

Any tips for windows activation issue; dialog appears this is not genuine windows..
When I click the link its not working.

I am afraid I cannot locate the productkey or get new one, this one I received ages ago from microsoft partner program, they do not seem to have win7 keys there anymore, just win10 keys :((
