Hi everyone,

I can't install updates KB4025341 and KB2952664 on my windows 7 ultimate SP1 for over a month now, since it keeps failing at installing.
I tried SFC, the SFCFix toolkit, DISM, clean boot and adding the MISSING_ASSEMBLY files to the checkSUR/Packages map.
The last option removed 8 errors, but still the remaining resist and I can't update.
I also tried removing the language pack, but I get a runtime error which I cannot solve.
I also reset the permissions and tried to reset windows update using a tweaking tool.
The CBS, checkSUR, FixIt and windowsupdate log are attached.

Some logs can be found at: Dropbox - Logs

What is the next step to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

I solved more than 400 of the SURT errors, but I can't fix the last 152 ones.
Windows Update still does not work.
Can anyone help out the 152 SURT errors?

Thanks!

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

I again replaced some corrupted files.
Now there are only 6 errors left, of which 5 are related to the dutch language pack.
The kb2999266 package only has 6.1.1.7 files in it and I can't find a 6.1.1.4 one.
I tried removing the language pack, but it fails at 10%.
The CBS log also shows some errors, but I don't know how to solve them.
The KB2952664 did install, but the KB4025341 still fails with error 80073701.

The logs can be found at dropbox: Dropbox - Logs

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named softwaremaniac. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Attach the file into your next post for me to analyze.

Step#1 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

SFC Scannow did not find any integrity errors.
Since the CBS file is over 120MB it can be found at dropbox.

1. Have you previously on your own attempted to fix the IE errors that were in your logs? If so what did you do?
Code:
    servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Hyphenation-Package-Dutch~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.2.9200.16437.mum
    servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Hyphenation-Parent-Package-Dutch~31bf3856ad364e35~~~10.2.9200.16437.mum
    servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Spelling-Package-Dutch~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.2.9200.16437.mum

    servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Spelling-Parent-Package-Dutch~31bf3856ad364e35~~~10.2.9200.16437.cat

2. Do you have any other Windows 7 machines that you have access to?
3. When you check for Windows Updates, are there any other updates that show besides the two you pointed out? Today the August Rollup gets released. This may be an option to try as well.

Please let me know.

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

1. Yes I tried to solve the errors myself, the same way the other corrupted files were handled.
This led to Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package and Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-LanguagePack being replaced with the correct file.
Couldn't find the other packages for the dutch files.

2. I do, I solved a lot of the CheckSur errors myself by replacing them with the correct file of the other pc.
This PC does not have the dutch language pack installed, but I can install it, if the dutch language pack seems to be the problem.

3: The KB2952664 did install a week ago, after I solved some errors.
When I search for updates I get the KB4025341 and
KB890830 as recommended updates. The KB890830 just appeared.
I once hid the KB4025341 and then the July monthly rollup was recommended.
It also led to the same error, but at that time KB2952664 wasn't installed and led to an error.
So maybe I can try to install KB890830 and the July rollup?

Thanks for the help!

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

After installing the language pack I just noticed that the versions of the hyphenation and spelling files are 11 and 6.3 on the other pc, while mine are 10.2 and 6.2.
There is also a optional download of internet explorer 11, while I already have IE 11 installed. These files maybe correspond to the IE version?
The update of IE also fails with code 9C48.

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

Can this be the problem?
My windows does not seem to detect IE 11, while it is installed.

Windows Update tried to install KB4034664, which is the august security rollup.
It still failed with 80073701.
I added the new CBS log to dropbox:

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

Please navigate to Control Panel -> Uninstall a Program.
Then click on View installed Updates.
Find Internet Explorer 11 on the list and uninstall it.
When the uninstall is done, please reboot your PC and download IE11 offline installer.
Install IE using the file you have just downloaded and let me know the result.

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

Hey softwaremaniac,
When I try to uninstall Internet Explorer 11 it leads to an error. "An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were succesfully uninstalled."

Re: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Error: 80073701 On updates KB4025341 and KB2952664

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

cd C:\windows\servicing\packages

wait a few seconds then when a new line appears copy and paste:

dir /s >%userprofile%\desktop\listmyfolder.txt

You should then see a file on your desktop called: listmyfolder.txt

Attach it to your next reply.
