Hi,

I have been watching this computer try and fail to install the current Monthly Update since it was released.

sfc /scannow finds no errors.

SURT has found 300 errors, all dealing with items in the KB4025341 update.

sfcfix.exe was unable to do anything for the system.

Attached is the CBS directory and the sfcfix.txt.

CBS Directory: CBS.zip - Google Drive

SFCFix.txt: SFCFix.txt - Google Drive

Thanks for your time,

JAB

Any thoughts about this? Windows Update has continued to try and fail to install this every day.

At a loss here, spent some more time trying to fix this and no luck. I've run a MS Quick fix tool and it shows the update as available but won't install. Cleaned and tried the stand alone installer, still fails.

There must be someplace where a broken version still lives that I have not been able to remove.

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named softwaremaniac. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Step#1 - Fix Corrupt Files
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files). If the Manifests folder doesn't exist within Winsxs you will need to create it.
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files). If the Packages folder doesn't exist within Servicing you will need to create it.
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, zip up and attach the following log file:
    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

I copied the files and ran SURT again. It looks like it fixed 150 bad files and re-paired them with the cab files.

OK, try checking for updates now and installing them and let me know how it goes.

Re: [Win7-64-Ult SP1]: KB4025341 fails with error code Code 800B0100

Well, it has not gone so well. I rebooted and tried checking for updates. It found the update KB4025341 again. I tried to install it and it failed again from Windows update. I then tried to install it from the stand alone msu file that I had downloaded last week and that looked like it had completed successfully. It required a reboot and that's where the trouble started.

The computer blue screened after the restart. So I tried to get into safe mode and it blue screened on the way into safe mode. So I went to a Windows 7 recovery disc which could not fix the problem either, but it did tell me that a patch was causing the problem.

So I am currently installing a backup from my server of the OS disk taken this morning. If that all goes well I should be back where we started this experience today. I will try the packs.zip files again and run SURT and post a new log when this get back up.

Any thoughts on what might have gone wrong?

I'm very sorry to hear that. This wasn't supposed to happen. Several people have reported the same issue, it seems to be caused by a driver conflict with another device. So here is the plan. Go ahead and do the Packs.zip & SURT again but don't attempt the update yet. Next we need to go to your computer manufacturers website and download and update all the drivers in your system to be current. This includes Chipset, Video, Network etc. Let me know if you need any assistance with this and also let me know which drivers there were updates for.
