[SOLVED] [W7SP1Pro x64] Check SUR unavailable repair files

Re: [W7 pro SP1 64 bits] Check SUR unavailable repair files

Hello and welcome!

This should resolve your CheckSUR.log issues.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

After the script is done, please run System Update Readiness Tool and attach CheckSUR.log

Thank you softwaremaniac but I got a "side-by-side error" when doing this (it's my initial problem).
Can I install this manually ?

I copied/pasted the files in your archive on the PC. It solved 1 error but not the other:

It is necessary to do something else to "install" the manifest ?

Thank you softwaremaniac but as said previously I can't use/execute SFCFix (side-by-side error).
So I have simply copied the manifest file into the right folder (Windows\winsxs\manifest) and now the View attachment CheckSUR.log is OK (concerning the View attachment CBS.log I don't understand it...).
Howerver I still have my initial problem of side-by-side error when I want to execute a x86 program.

With regard to the system readiness tool (KB947821), its installation fails each time I try it (the event viewer says error 0x800736b1).
About that, is it normal to have a file windows6.1-rtm-client-neutral-amd64.cab in the folder Windows\CheckSur\v1.0 ?

That's great. The CheckSUR.log is now clean.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a filesharing service of your choice and just provide the link here.

Thanks.

I'll need another one:

Step#1 - Retrieve Software Hive
Note: The Software have has confidential and sensitive information in it so please send me a PM with a link to the hive so it's not in the public form.

  • Please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products
You will find it at the bottom of the page that the link brings you to.
  • Go ahead and install this program and accept all the defaults. After the last install screen the program should open.
  • Click the New Backup button. Accept the defaults and simply click Start.
  • When it says Finished successfully, click the Close button.
  • This will bring you back to the main screen of the program. You will see one entry in this list with the date that you did it. Right-click on this line-item and select Explore Backup...
  • This will bring you into the folder where the backup was made. You should see a Users folder and a Windows folder along with a couple other files. Double-click on the Windows folder to open it. Then open the System32 folder and then config folder. You should see around 6 files in here, one of which is named SOFTWARE.
  • Copy this file to your Desktop.
  • Now right click on this file on your desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Then please upload the zip file(s) to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). Examples of services to upload to are One Drive or SendSpace and then just PM me your link.
  • You can close any open windows you have as well as the RegBak program now.

Softwaremaniac, I cannot open almost all .exe files due to the side-by-side errors.
What part of the registry do you need ?

The data is sensitive in a sense that licence keys for software are stored there and such. However, I respect your choice.
Please do the following:

Export SideBySide

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type regedit
  2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide
  4. Once selected, click File > Export....
  5. Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*)
  6. Name this file SxS (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.

Please upload the file somewhere and provide me with a link.

Hello, I'm very sorry for the delay, I've been busy!

1. Do you use Chrome? If so, can you use it or does it return an error? Have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it after that?
2. Is your CBS log clean? If you haven't done an SFC /scannow, please do.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Hello, don't worry for the "delay", it's very kind of you to try to help me ;)

No I don't have Chrome on that computer. And I can't install it becasue of the side-by-side error... again (as for the C++2005 packages).

Here is the scan log View attachment CBS.txt.
As you can see I've done it several times since the beginning of troubles.
From what I remember, each time the scan says "no problem" (like during this one from "2017-1124 19:08:04" to "2017-1124 19:29:51"). But there are strange things after (while the PC was idle).

Hello,

you did not follow my instructions correctly in Post#14.

Please repeat it, and make sure you export SideBySide as a hive rather than a reg file.

Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*)
