My windows vista is slow...

I deceided to help my sister with her computer. Therefor, my help isn't complete...the computer is running well but I can feel a certain speed slowdown (expicially on start, shutdown and when too many things are running.)

I did remove unwanted program from start up...unless you guys detect nothing, I feel there is a problem...
I ran many scans, such as combofix (I think it made the computer worser) but I have a computer restore system ready if I should do it...

After running SFC/scannow, it has detected errors and said they got able to fix them. On thereboot , it started loading an update but on step2 (it actually starts with step2) the computer shutdown and im back with the same problem : SFC detect more errors, attempt to fix them and can't proceed.

If you guys could help me out, I would be in heaven....seems that Windows vista isn't a good OS, I always have problem with it.

Computer : pentium dual core T4200 @ 2.00 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, Toshiba (laptop).

I'm sorry for double posting, I wanted to edit my previous message but I can't anymore.

1) I did run more scan just incase and attached the new files to this message.
2) I also added the ComboFix log incase you guys are able to decrypt it...and if you realize that I did something wrong...

3) One more thing came to my attention, while I was navigating on this forum to gain some knowledge, I saw someone (can't remember who) that suggested to run a chsdsk c: /f test.

I have no idea what happened, but since then, the laptop takes forever to open...

I went inside the Event viewer...and I saw a lot of errors going on : I have no clue if this is relevent but if you guys would like to see these logs, let me know (please note that I don't know how to convert the Event viewer files into .txt one).


From now on, I will wait for assistance.

I'm not properly trained to look at your CBS log (yet, I'm learning!), but I can offer assistance in other ways.

Firstly, it's too late now but you should never run ComboFix without being told to by a trained malware removal expert. It's a very powerful tool that can very easily break your PC completely...

I know you're not experiencing BSODs, but could you please follow the BSOD posting instructions since they collect useful information - BSOD Posting Instructions

Please then do the following:

- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

What drive did you move it to, a second internal hard drive a external USB drive or just another partition on the existing hard drive?

If I correctly understand your question, I have two partion inside the same hard drive (C: and D:) and they are both NTFS.
There was an unused partition (sized 11,2 GB (D:)), so I decided to move it there, after doing some research on the internet...

Result: I believe the laptop gained some speed.

Also, I'm trying to do these past instructions. But the step #2 of BSOD Posting Instructions won't complete (it actually wrote down ~100 times Waiting for SystemInfo)
