Hi Eduardo,

Don't worry about the errors, they're perfectly normal. How is Windows Update behaving now?

Tom

KB2872339 still being offered and installed on every reboot. Update history now shows 47 instances of it being successfully installed - some times thrice on the same day.

Now there are two updates stuck:

KB2872339
KB2882822

And the update list shows a blank screen (even though there are the 2 updates above, plus 25 optional language packs to install)

Hi Eduardo,

Sorry for the delay!

Can you boot into the recovery environment, and launch command prompt please: How to use the Windows 7 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt

When command prompt is launched, type in the following command and press enter:

DISM /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

Note: Your drive may be D: or E:. If C: fails, try D: then E:

Then reboot your computer, booting into Windows normally. Run this FixIt in aggressive mode: You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services

Then try updating and post your CBS log please :)

Tom

Sorry for the couple months absence, I had to travel a lot for work.

I did the above procedure, and it is still stuck which is really annoying. Also, Internet Explorer 11 fails to install.

Follows a new CBS log.View attachment 6263

Hi,

I'm very sorry for the delay. Tom is currently very busy with exams, and I am taking all threads pretty much! But unfortunately, I am not as experienced as Tom, and still under training. But I'll see what I can do!

Can you run SURT once more, but download a new copy, since it has been updated since your last run.

Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

  1. Download the System Update Readiness Tool from Microsoft --> here <-- Please save the tool to a convenient location as it may be necessary to run it again.
  2. After the download has completed, double-click the file and wait while it initializes.
  3. Click Yes to begin installation. Please note it may take some time to complete and may appear to stall whilst installing. Don't worry, this is perfectly normal behaviour. Also note, whilst I say "installing", it's actually running the tool and can therefore be "installed" (run) repeatedly.

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button :startorb: then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
  8. Attach this new file to your next post.

Is RAR ok? had to repack the cab file contents to keep upload under the forum limit.

Now KB2872339 failed with error 80246007.

Regards,
Eduardo.

Also, an interesting tidbit:

If I hide KB 2872339 it then offers me KB 2859537 instead, and it behaves the same way (reoffer loop).
And if I hide that one it does not offer any other updates.

I have also verified that both registry keys mentioned on the KB article as causing problems when missing are present on my system.

Sorry for the extended delay.

I have packed up this evening, but will try to have a look at your logs tomorrow, unless Tom can sooner.

Regards,
Stephen

Sorry for the delay. Still stuck and getting errors 80073712 and 80073701. KB2862330, KB2919469 and KB2830477 all fail to install.
