Hello,

Hopefully somebody can help me here. I have been searching for weeks to resolve this and spent countless hours with no luck.

I have been getting uninstall IE9 errors and install IE 10 errors and cannot find a solution at all.

Here is my system:

0x800B0100 is a nice easy error code to fix as all it requires is replacing the corrupt packages with new ones but before I fix your corrupt packages, I would like you to run the System Update Readiness Tool please:

Download System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [August 2013] from Official Microsoft Download Centre

Post the log when complete:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Tom

Thank you @Tom982 for your help and prompt response. It is greatly appreciated.

It took quite awhile for the install to actually start, but finally done. Please see attached CheckSUR.persist.log.

Thank you again!

Regards,
Brad

Hi Brad,

Strangely, the System Update Readiness Tool didn't detect all the corruption listed in the CBS log, but on the up side, it confirms there are no further problems with this and it is simply a case of repairing a few packages.

We are running a small training programme for people interested in helping out with Windows Update/SFC issues on forums, and currently have two exceptional trainees eager to fix some real threads. As this problem is so simple, would you mind if one of the trainees created a fix for you? Of course, this will still be under my supervision and I will review the fix prior to him posting it to you, but I assure you that you will be in very good hands!

If the problem develops further complications, then I will take over again :)

Tom

Hello Tom982,

Thank you and I would be willing to participate in your training program by being a guinea pig. Thank you for all your help.

Regards,
Brad
PS. Sorry if this is a re-post reply, but my messages do not seem to be showing up when I reply?

Hi there Brad ,
In case you couldn't guess, I'm the guy who's been given your thread.
With any luck, we might get an easy fix out of this - as Tom said, your problem should be a very simple one to solve.
Anyway, just follow the instructions below and we'll go from there!

Windows Update Package Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing a folder called Packages
  5. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
  6. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again. You shouldn't need to download it, just 'install' it again.
  7. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:
    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Thanks a lot!

Jack

Oops, it appears I've been silly.
When you extract the folder, you'll see one called Packs. Don't worry, 'Packages' is just inside there. Just me being dumb, doesn't affect the fix at all.
Take the files from inside Packages and plonk them in the relevant folder.

Hey Brad.

Did you rerun the Update Readiness Tool before you uploaded the log? It looks identical to the first one.
If not, could you please install it again - when it says 'installing', it's actually running the tool.
Then just send up the new CheckSUR.persist.log.

Thanks a lot,
Jack

The log grows downwards so you need to look right at the very bottom :)

@2mentors: No need to re-run, the fix has gone through fine. Can you please re-run Windows Update and see if your problem is resolved, and if not, let me know which updates still fail and with what error codes? There is potential that the 0x9c59 error code in particular is not yet fixed, as that sometimes requires an extra couple of steps. But the key word there is "sometimes", so I need to check first :)

Glad to see it all went well :)
Thank you for letting me have a go at your fix, being a trainee means I need all the experience I can get!

Jack
