Windows 8.1 Update 1 install fail error code 80073712

Hello xlxcrossing, welcome to Sysnative!

We can only guess what the problem is without the corresponding logs, so let's see what's going on here:

DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Right-click on the Start
    w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  3. When DISM finishes scanning your component store, zip up and attach your CBS log to your next post:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Followed your directions verbatim but it looks like my results aren't correct. Tried IE and Chrome and "Add Files" does nothing but spin the little pinwheel without attaching my file so here's the dropbox link for the cbs.txt

Perfect :) Run SFC, upload the CBS.txt file, and then give Windows Update a try :) Fingers crossed!

I guess this is the end? I can't get any future updates without this one so I guess I'll do an upgrade from an ISO to Windows 8.1 Update 1. Anyone care to contribute?
