Hi. My computer is a build from Digital Storm, ODE I think, and a couple years old. I think my Windows Update problems started when I had a memory stick go bad. I replaced it and lost the factory overclocking and such. I noticed my start-up times are slower and I'm getting the ASUS screens when I start-up now which I used to not get.

For a couple months now, there are Windows Updates my system just will not download, one being IE 11. Today, I installed System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [February 2014]. I also did an sfc /scannow and got no errors. When I try to run Windows Update I always get the 80073712 error and I just got 9C59 error in addition on my latest try.

I also downloaded and ran RegBak to try and get you the COMPONENTS file, but it is not in the RegBak folder that was created after running it. Dunno.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any other info, let me know. Thanks

Thanks for the reply Tom. Whenever you get time would be great. Good luck on your exams and thanks again for the help you guys provide.

Hi NavySpook78,

Thanks for the nudge in the Not Received Help thread - I saw your reply here a few days ago and completely forgot to take you off the list.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download the attached file, SFCFix.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.txt - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.txt.
 5. Drag the file SFCFix.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

When that's finished, reboot, try to update and post your CBS log if it still fails please.

After running the script I rebooted and tried to update. There were two important updates, IE 11 and KB2862330. The both failed with the following error codes; 80073712 and 9C59. Anytime I reboot, after a few minutes, the icon showing there are updates to install when you next shut down appears on the shut down box under the Start menu. Anytime I shutdown this way, it says installing 1 of 1 updates, but whenever I next run Windows Update, the same ones appear there. Here is the latest CBS file:

Was too big to attach.

Thanks again for your time.

Hi NavySpook,

It appears my last script didn't go through properly, so I'd like to try again with this one please:

Ran script and update tool. Shut down and powered back on. After a few minutes the icon popped back up on the Shut down box saying I have an update to install upon shut down.

Thanks again.
