Hello,

I've been experiencing update failures for a 2019 server after completing the following steps:

  1. sfc /scannow
    1. No integrity violations found.
  2. dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
    1. The component store is repairable.
  3. dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    1. No component store corruption detected.
  4. dism /online /cleanupimage /restorehealth
    1. The restore operation completed successfully. (Says this everytime with same issue/error)

Attached appropriate files!

Any/all advice is greatly appreciated. :)

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Please provide all the previous Cbs_Perstist logs as well, or did you delete them?

Upload a copy of the CBS folder
  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply. If the file is too large to attach, upload the CBS.zip file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Do not delete older log files because they contain essential information, the latest logs you've posted aren't helpful either. So please attempt to update again and provide all the recent CBS logs.

Yeah! Now I am seeing a clear error to work on, so please provide a copy of the COMPONENTS hive and provide the result of step 2.

Step 1. Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Step 2. Open an elevated command prompt and run the following command. Attach Dirlist.txt to your next post.
Code:
dir /s /a %systemroot%\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-i..nese-core-essential_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.17763.2989_none_f71a8a189c8174f9 > "%userprofile%\Desktop\Dirlist.txt"

Components attached, however upon running the dirlist export it fails with "File Not Found".

EDIT: I attached the dirlist with the current version/naming of that file.
Code:
dir /s /a %systemroot%\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-i..nese-core-essential_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.17763.2213_none_f75fc0369c4e663b > "%userprofile%\Desktop\Dirlist.txt"

  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
