Hello,

I am currently attempting to upgrade my computer's operating system from Windows 8.1 to either Windows 11 or 10. However, I am encountering the same error message for both operating systems, as indicated in the title. After researching the issue, it appears to be related to a driver problem, despite having updated all of the drivers.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to resolve this?
Thank you!

Hello and welcome,

Copy the files C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log and C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log to your desktop.
Zip the copied files and attach the zipfile to your next reply.

FRST Scan:
  1. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:
64-bit: Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
  2. Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  3. Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  4. Press the Scan button.
  5. Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  6. Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

All done.

The FRST Tool where frozen at the end but the Files where created anyways. They are in german I hope they work for you. I can run FRST again when needed.

Thanks!

Text in German language is no problem for me.

Step 1:
Download MCPR (McAfee Product Removal).
Start MCPR.exe.
Follow the instructions that appear.
On completion restart the machine.

Step 2:
The FRST scan in message #4 isn't complete.
Run the scan again and let the tool do it's job. Leave it running for at least 2 hours.

Hello.

Unfortunately, Step 1 did not work.
After running MCPR.exe as Administrator, it showed "Incomplete Installation" (image below).
I have added the log the software provided.
I tried it multiple times.

How can I fix that?
Thank you.

Restart the machine, run the tool MCPR.exe again and report the result.

Step 1:
Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.
  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Attach the logfile Fixlog.txt to your next reply.

Step 2:
Run the command sfc /scannow in an elevated commandprompt and report the result.
If it fails, copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop.
Zip the copied file and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

Step 1 worked successfully.
Fixlog.txt (below) was created, the computer restarted.

Step 2
The [sfc /scannow] scan was completed successfully.
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations (image attached below).

Great. Restart the computer.
Check Windows Update.
Do not install any updates yet. Provide a screenshot of the available updates first.

All right.
Here are the updates.
Haven't clicked on anything for now.
Sorry for the quality :l

No problem.

Step 1:
Install the important update only.

Step 2:
1. Click the Start button and then type cmd in the search box. Right-click on cmd that comes up in the search results and select Run as administrator.
2. A User Account Control dialog may come up asking for approval. If it does go ahead and allow.
3. A command prompt window will open. Copy and paste the following into the command-prompt and hit enter.
wmic service get name,displayname,pathname,startmode,exitcode > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\services.txt"
4. After the command runs there will be a file on your desktop named services.txt.
5. Attach this file to your next reply.

All done.

The computer didn't restart after Step 1.
I hope this is correct.
services.txt was created.

A reboot was not needed after step 1.

DISM /RestoreHealth Scan
  1. Right-click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Administrator)
  2. If you get a popup about UserAccountControl, allow the program to run.
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter after each.
    Code:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for this to finish before you continue
  4. Provide a screenshot of the result.
