[SOLVED] 0x800703F1 on update KB3156421 (Win10 x64 b10586)

Windows 10 installation has failed again. I couldn't disable Avast starting up on the Task Manager, but I did disable it on the taskbar.

Sorry for the late reply, long weekends.

I think we should test your disk. Please do the following when able.

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the content of the GSmartControl .zip archive and execute gsmartcontrol.exe;
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, copy and paste their name in your next reply (or take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply);

Test result: Completed without error. I'll put the View Output results in case that's what you wanted:

...well, used it for six months and it's already pre-failure. Probably should just buy an SSD. Gotta look up how to get that license key for Windows though...

EDIT: Oh it doesn't put it in a block. Alright, not spoilering that text.

EDIT2: Perhaps those results are exaggrating a little... that or all of my HDDs are going to fail.

Ahhhh, I think I see the issue.

Code:
2016-06-03 17:32:04, Error SP Failed to get driver packages from the online system. Error: 0x800703F1[gle=0x0000007a]

Please go to c:\windows\system32\config and copy the file named drivers to your desktop. Zip this up and upload to SendSpace and provide the link here.

Thanks. Please do the following and let me know when complete.

Step#1 - Replace Manually
1. Download the attached file named DRIVERS2.zipand save to your desktop.
2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
3. Now we have the DRIVERS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
5. Right-click on the current DRIVERS file and select rename. Rename it to DRIVERS.bad2.
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
6. Take the file from the DRIVERS2 folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config
