I believe I have found a lot of missing entries that are the root cause of your problem.

Please store the hive you've sent me somewhere in case you need it. Please understand that this will not fix your issue, but rather provide me with the information whether this is what I need to do. Please make sure you have backed up your hive before executing this script.

Here's the first half of the fix:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

Ok. This one seems to have stopped adding things. It looks like it was trying to fix stuff in the background even after I had closed the Windows Features windows and error pop ups.

Step#1 - DISM /RestoreHealth Scan
Warning:this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter. If prompted to overwrite the existing file go ahead.
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please zip/upload to this thread.

Wow. That's amazing, man. It worked seamlessly. I not only disabled SMB1's auto disable, but also root SMB1 and SMB1 "direct", one by one in case I had an error. Everything went smooth.

Teach me, please. If I format my disks and reinstall Windows just like I did this time, will I run into the exact same problem? What do I need to do exactly in order to fix it? I assume the fixes in this case were applied by the scripts that you sent me that executed registry ownership and import operations? Is there a more or less automated way of fixing such missing assembly problems? Any additional insight into this solution would be greatly appreciated.

On a final note, it would be awesome if you could edit the OP to correct the topic's "MB1" into "SMB1" and the post text's "SMB 1.9/CIFS" into "SMB 1.0/CIFS" just in order to make it more likely for people searching around to actually find this thread/solution.

That's awesome! I have tried multiple ways, and when none worked, I began searching deeper, then I saw the identity errors and checked your components hive. They were missing, so your system did not know where these files come from and that's the cause of the error. While I can't guarrantee that you will never have that problem again, I can tell you that you are free to ask for help again if needed. I manually replaced the missing values and threfore, I cannot provide a generic fix for the issue, but only on a case to base basis :)

Is the finding out and manual replacement of such missing values too technical? Is there a guide anywhere I could read into? It would be awesome if I could solve these component problems by myself next and maybe even help other people too.
