You can use the following tool to make a copy / backup of it without a restart.

Download

Acelogix RegBak (Portable) to create a backup of the registry.

• Extract RegBak.zip and right-click regbak64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
• Click on the button New backup and choose the location where you want to save the backup.
• Optional: enter a description for this backup.
• Now click on the option "Click here to view details".
• Ensure the option Select hives not loaded by Windows is checked, to be sure the following items are included in the backup.
  
  
• Click Ok to save these settings and press Start to create the backup.
• When completed you will see the message: Finished succesfully.

ok I will grab it -do you think that will be enough to fix? I don't want to use much more of your time, you've put in a monster effort. Might be easier just to rebuild it?

Let's hope this hive will contain all the required keys (aprox. 2000), if not a rebuild or in-place-upgrade would be the quickest way to resolve this issue.

Hi,

I have removed the complete backup as attachement because the SOFWARE hive contains sensitive data.

And unfortunately, this hive does not contain the necessary keys either.

So it doesn't look like you'll be able to fix it then hey? Outside of the update issues, the server seems to be working find. I guess I'll just have to rebuild! Thanks every much for your efforts SFC /Jedi.

It should be possible, but due to the number of corruptions it will take a lot of time to rebuild a system which we can use as source. If it's easier to rebuild it would be the quickest way to get this server 'healthy' again.
