Hi, i'm writing for a friend that's been having issues with his PC since this morning.
He's updated to Windows 11 almost a couple of weeks ago without doing a clean install.
Yesterday he went to work with Cinema 4D, and his work got corrupted when saving.
Now, Cinema 4D has been warning him that he should disable the "Nahimic" drivers, which got turned back automatically when installing Win 11, and so that is what he did. This is the only change he's done to his system to my knowledge.
When he did so, his PC started stuttering heavily. Peculiarly, these stutters, which also coincided with 100% spikes in usage of his C disk.
At this point, I suggested he make a post here, but when he started following the instructions for making a post, he got a problem after the other:
Running the SFC scan as admin, gave him a message akin to: "There is already a recovery operation in progress. Restart the PC and try again." Restarting did nothing, and he still couldn't scan.
Running the second step, SURT/DISM, got stuck around 63% for like 45 minutes and never completed.
He then tried dowloading the CompontentsScanner, but his pc was barely useable amidst the constant freezes, and Edge crashed while downloading it. He tried this a couple of times with no success.
After all this, he gave up and tried using the System Recovery with the option of going through the Cloud. This also failed.
He then tried resetting Windows, and it then failed to boot after making him select all basic options like language, key, etc.
He's now trying to install Win 11 via a USB UEFI pendrive, after deleting the partitions on his SSD, and he's just got an error message stating that it could not install it.
So... This to me sounds like a disk problem. It's a NVME M2 drive which is around 7 years old.
His last attempt at restoring windows told him that it left a log in the pen drive. As soon as he'll be able to recover that and send it to me, I'll upload it here.
In the meantime, he's bought a new NVME drive and tomorrow we'll see.
If anyone has any idea of what could have happened, or how to check further, we'd be really interested in hearing more opinions.
