Another DPC Latency problem / audio glitches

Hi, Tomas.
It seems to be related with Chrome, at least in many cases.
AIMP (Winamp alternative) plays mostly fine.

Though I did not try the most up-to-date version of the driver yet.

Interesting thing is that adding/opening a tab in Chrome glitches
the audio stream from the player (in that case I mean Chrome with 10-15 tabs open,
and with one of the tabs containing audio/video content that Win machines could hardly manage as I know).

But when I work with audio I do not need neither chrome or LAN,
so I could keep everything off, no probs, even if I think that from hardware point of view my Dell should hadle it with no hassle at all
as CPU remains at 15-20%.

... and with the latest Ethernet driver version when chrome is opened - it still influences the audio stream from the player.

Greetings from the barricades,

A.

... and again glitches or to name it more correctly - mixer start-up noizes,
happen even if audio is stopped but chrome is opened.

This is getting really complicated...

So, it was better when using the older driver from here, than using the newest one? If so, please revert it back. If you see no difference, please leave the most recent version installed.

Could you please also explain in more detail what are these "mixer start-up noizes"?

Good morning, Tomas.

I'm afraid you are right, as this morning glitching happened again. Not that often but I've heard them several times.
And still 6-7 drivers in the system execute much longer than they should and it feels like they also may add -
as HDAudio is amongst those - and I've heard that on-board audio should be disabled when using outboard audio - though still not sure if its' right or not.

If you got a minute, please have a look at prinstcreen attached.

I've joined this forum so I can hopefully enlighten a lot of Win8.1 "Standard" users who have suffered with the DPC Latency issues like I have for so long and tried everything from disabling/re-enabling/re-installing/updating any and every device driver in Device Manager without success! I'm running an ASUS Q500A i7 with 16GB of RAM and a Crucial M500 960GB SSD and was still haviing the pops and bangs associated with audio and video playback - until today!!

Microsoft have finally added to their Knowledge Base a roll-up update which includes a fix for latency issues (KB2911106) it includes KB2910642 which is itended as a fix for Windows Media Player but it has all but resolved my issues when trying to listen to 192/24 & 96/24 HD audio via Mediamonkey and Foobar2000 which were previously almost unlistenable.

Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: January 2014

I hope this helps out anyone who thought that there was no foreseeable light at the end of the tunnel on this one from Microsoft!!
