Other Staff Members - For information, this is a continuation of the same black screen issue as before - Randy contacted me via PM and we decided to carry on in this thread as before.

Anyway, I don't see anything in the logs that suggests a problem this time, but there are a few things I would like to note.

There are repeated entries of this. I also remember this from before.
Code:
Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D

To fix this, please do the following -

- Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client\Support\
- Copy the EppOobe.etl file to your desktop as a backup
- Now delete the EppOobe.etl file from the original folder and reboot.

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1.

- Click Start --> Right Click Computer --> Manage
- Click Disk Management in the left hand column
- Take a screenshot and attach to your next post.

Let's get some more information. You can never have too many logs :p Please work through the BSOD posting instructions here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/bs...ctions-windows-8-1-8-7-and-windows-vista.html. Even though you are not having BSODs, the information will be useful.

Hopefully this was just a one off things, but we will see! Fingers crossed!

Disk Management shows what I hoped. The event viewer HDD entry is not related to your main HDD. :) That's good.

Just skimming through your files now.

I see you have DAEMON tools installed. This isn't the cause of the problem, but something I will address. DAEMON tools is known to cause issue with Windows 7. The driver of DAEMON tools - sptd.sys, is the problem. From the Carrona Driver Reference Table:

So, let's uninstall it for good measure.

Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Programs. Once the program is uninstalled, run sptd.sys uninstaller to remove the driver from your system. As an alternative, and the software I use myself, I recommend WinCDEmu - the easiest way to mount an ISO. And more...

I'm not seeing anything else in the logs of any real interest.

Here's what we'll do. Keep an eye on it. If it does it again, let me know straight away - reply to this thread as always. We will then proceed with a clean install of your graphics card drivers, because I feel that is the underlying issue here.

Hello Stephen. It's Randy AGAIN. It's back.........the Black Screen. It happened the day after I did a bunch of Windows Updates. Not sure that's why but....can you help? Randy

Oh no, that's a pain... Never mind, I'll see what I can do. As per usual, I'd like some logs - same as always!

- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Are you running a custom theme? (ie using uxthemepatcher?)

If you are, uninstall it, do all the updates and reinstall it.

If not then disregard this. I have similar blackscreen issues as due many others running custom themes with a few of the updates in 7/8/8.1
 
No custom theme Laxer sorry. This is the 3rd time at least for this. Tekno Venus has been on the case from day one. Not sure why is it reoccurring.

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    chkdsk /f

  4. Reboot
  5. Download ListChkdskResult.exe (by SleepyDude) from the link below:

  6. Double click on it to run it. It will take a few seconds to scan, then it will open a Notepad window with the log. Copy and paste the contents of this into your next post please!

The log looks good to me - no bad sectors or anything nasty like that.

I do feel this still stems from a Graphics cad related issue. Let's try and cleanly install the drivers. From the logs you sent earlier, you have an NVidia GTX 460M.

The latest NVidia drivers for your card can be downloaded from here: NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 332.21 Driver WHQL

Then follow these instructions to install them - Guide on how to install the NVIDIA Display Driver under Windows 7/Windows Vista.

Please choose Custom (Advanced) and then check Perform Clean Install.

I have reviewed this thread and would like to offer a quick suggestion along side with Tekno. This IS starting to sound like a hardware related issue. Along side Tekno's suggestions could you please run a hardware diagnostic on your hard drive? It looks like there was an automatic sector repair done on your HDD and we want to verify its integrity, as a failing hard drive can most definitely cause issues like this. You can do this using Seatools.

1. Download the Seatools for Dos .iso
2. Burn it to a CD using image burning software like ImgBurn
3. Insert the CD into the disc drive and reboot the PC (we will be booting the PC from the CD - please post if you need assistance in doing this)
4. Run a Seatools Long test as shown here:

Randy - I agree with everything said by Ganjeii. Unfortunlately, this is starting to look more and more like hardware. Please perform a SeaTools test as instructed above.

Also, do you have a second monitor or screen you can use? You could even use a TV if you have the correct cable.

Did the Seatools test but it said no hard drive found? only gave me option for exit. couldn't move mouse around so had to ctrl-alt-delete to reboot???? did not have option for long test? also yes I do have another monitor....
