BSOD during installation!

Hello, after the selective exlusion I've found that the culprit service is: ssdpsrv - Simple Service Discovery Protocol Service is used to detect USB devices when plugged in.

Thank you.

Do you have a printer hooked up by USB?
Or better yet what do you have hooked to the USB ports?

As strange as it sound is there by chance a Xbox on the same network? If there is shut it down or unplug the network from it to see if there is any effect.

No printer hooked up; only a Microsoft USB IntelliMouse Explorer 4.0 (IntelliPoint) mouse.
Sometime I connect: my smartphhone nokia n900 even for more than 24 hours or an usb JetFlash TS16GJF220.

Just a hunch from something I've been noticing recently, try uninstalling the USB 3 drivers(the ports will revert to USB 2) just to see if the CPU usage drops.

I remembered reading this on Tech net and just found it.
SSDP is mechanism that allows network clients to discover network services. For the universal plug-and-play functionality, the process ssdpsrv.exe offers simple service discovery protocol and provides the general event notification architecture (GENA) services. The file ssdpsrv.exe is likewise a component designed for the future generation of plug-and-play devices. The process ssdpsrv.exe starts up a Web server on port 5000.

That explains the Xbox connection I ran across, so it there anything else is on your local network that could be probing the usb ports?

I'm a WIMAX 3G user. I'm connected to the web via a router 3G hooked up wireless/etehernet cable to my computer. I've disabled my windows media center in the control panel/program and features. The issue is still present.
No media extender listed. Ty.

Lets try turning the service off and see if anything is effected.
Open task manager, on the services tab in the lower right corner is a button that says Services on it, click on the button, in the services window scroll down to SSDP Discovery, right click select properties from the list, on the General tab click on stop to stop the service then in the drop down box above it select disabled.
