Hi,

I've run FRST64.exe with the fixlist.txt file. Attached is the fixlog.txt file produced.

Thanks.

Is there improvement after the restart ?

Hi,

I processed fixlist.txt and the PC rebooted. Attached is the Fixlog.txt file.

Unfortunately this did not resolve the issue. Actually, I tried this one a few months ago when I previously had the problem after another Windows Update, and it also did not resolve the issue back then either.

Aside, I switched on VerboseStatus (and boot logging as well) this time round to see if it revealed anything more than "Please wait...". Verbose logging showed the following sequence of messages (and length of display). Not sure if this helps you:

1. Please wait for the Group Policy Client... (displayed about 1 minute)
2. Welcome... (displayed about 1 second)
3. Please wait for the User Profile Service... (displayed about 24 seconds)
4. Please wait for the Local Session Manager (displayed about 1/2 second)
5. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service / Please contact your system administrator / OK Button

Step 2 would normally be reached within an absolute maximum of about 10 seconds on this PC prior to the issue. Step 2, 3, 4 and any others subsequent would also normally occur within a maximum of about 10 seconds after which the desktop would start to display.

Thanks.

Thanks for sorting the original Windows Update issue I had - I am very grateful for the assistance you have provided.

Have made a donation - hope this goes a little way to supporting this great website.

Will now try the forum you suggest for the SENS issue.

Cheers.

Your welcome and thanks for your donation.

Hi,

The following is the reference to the post on the SENS issue: Help needed to fix Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service

As per that post: Due to system instability issues, I ended up restoring from a very old backup (prior to the original Windows Update issue) and then re-applying windows updates again. The Windows Update issue did not re-occur (thankfully), but the SENS issue did occur again after one of the updates. I rolled the offending update back using the restore point created by the update to fix the SENS issue, and re-applied the update again. After re-applying the update, and several others subsequently, the SENS issue has not re-occurred and the system is stable again.

So, given my system is working again and the issues have gone (at least for now), you can close this case.

Cheers.

Thanks for your feedback.
