What's the full model? I have multiple X450L on Asus' website, X450LNV, X450LDV, etc.
Do you know your Bluetooth brand name? Ralink, Realtek or Qualcomm?

Right-click on the Windows logo in the bottom left corner, and select Command Prompt. From there, enter the command below and press on Enter:
Now in the output, look for Bluetooth, it should tell you the brand and model of the adapter.Code:ipconfig /all
In that case, right-click on the Windows logo in the bottom left corner, and select Device Management. From there, looks under the Bluetooth section. How many adapters do you see there? What's their name?
Also, does your laptop have F keys that enable/disable features (like sound, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.)?
Can you try the Solution #2 listed in the following thread (enable the Bluetooth Support Service) and then check if the option comeback?

Alright. For your issue, I would start a new thread in the Windows 8.1 section, since it isn't related to Windows Update or system files, but rather drivers and/or features :)
