Computer crashes!

Exact same result unfortunately.
Run the command SFC /SCANNOW again in an elevated commandprompt and provide a screenshot of the result.
Copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop.
Zip the copied file and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

The log is not complete. Please zip and attach the file cbs.log again.

The log doesn't show an error.
Attach the files C:\Windows\logs\dism\dism.log and C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log to your next reply.

Uninstall Avast for at least a few days to see if that resolved the freezing.

I still don't see an error in the logs.
Did you uninstall Avast as I asked in my previous post ?

I really don't want to uninstall Avast again and be without protection, but if my computer freezes on me again I will do as you say and uninstall it again.

Alright, I'll just do that then. I'll uninstall, then I'll use Avast clear again. I'll then try going back to the page that froze me that last time and see if it does it again.

Okay, well first of all Avast wouldn't uninstall. The window popped up but it just stalled forever, and this actually happened last time I uninstalled it too. I went into safe mode and uninstalled. By the way, a short survey came up and the "finish" button at the end wouldn't work either, nor would the "skip survey".

After I did all that, I went back to the page that froze me last time and it still did. I believe it was a video trying to play that did it, but then I also had Amazon freeze on me too after a search :|

Almost forgot the CBS file!

Run the Avast removal tool.
Follow the instructions here at Uninstall Avast Antivirus using our Avast removal tool: Avast Clear

I went back to the page that froze me last time and it still did.
Try using Internet Explorer 11 which should be on your system already. Does that make any difference ?

Once again, almost everything freezes the computer now. I did use Avast Clear. I'll try again and make sure I do everything on that page exactly as it says. I had disabled IE 11 because I never used it. I will re-enable it and try that if nothing on that page works.

Used Avast Clear again following the steps exactly as it said, and once again it said it was successful. I then tried Internet explorer and computer froze on google. Do you want me to try the removal with command prompt then?

No, that it not needed.
Please do following and report the result.

Test RAM With Memtest86+
Please ensure you allow 8 passes of the program!

Download Memtest86+ here: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Which should I download?

You can either download the pre-compiled .ISO that you would burn to a CD and then boot from the CD, or you can download the auto-installer for the USB key. What this will do is format your USB drive, make it a bootable device, and then install the necessary files. Both do the same job, it's just up to you which you choose, or which you have available (whether it's CD or USB).

Do note that some older generation motherboards do not support USB-based booting, therefore your only option is CD (or Floppy if you really wanted to).

How Memtest works (you don't need to read, it's only for those interested in the specifics):

Memtest uses algorithms (specifically two), namely moving inversion & what is deemed Modulo-X. Essentially, the first algorithm fills the memory with a pattern. Starting at the low address, it checks to see if the pattern was changed (it should not have been), writes the patterns complement, increments the address, and repeats. Starting at the highest address (as opposed to the lowest), it follows the same checklist.

The reason for the second algorithm is due to a few limitations, with the first being that not all adjacent cells are being tested for interaction due to modern chips being 4 to 16 bits wide regarding data storage. With that said, patterns are used to go ahead and ensure that all adjacent cells have at least been written with all possible one and zero combinations.

The second is that caching, buffering and out of order execution will interfere with the moving inversions algorithm. However, the second algorithm used is not affected by this. For starting offsets of 0-20, the algorithm will write every 20th location with a pattern, write all other locations with the patterns complement, repeat the previous one (or more) times, and then check every 20th location for the previously mentioned pattern.

Now that you know how Memtest actually works, it's important to know that the tests it goes through all mean something different. It goes from Test 0 through Test 12, many of which use either one or the other algorithm discussed above, among many other things.

Any other questions, they can most likely be answered by reading this great guide here:

If needed, a tutorial on using this is here.

It found 1 bad address. 9 errors after 33 passes (I just left it on all night and all morning). I have heard that bad memory can cause some really weird issues. I just don't understand how it was working mostly fine, but then uninstalling Avast made it go back to freezing almost everywhere. Going to have to replace the memory I guess. What a pain.

Going to have to replace the memory I guess.
Indeed. Your machine has 4095.37 MB RAM installed. When replaced report the result.

I have a few question about that. I'm not really all that knowledable about some of this stuff. I believe I have DDR3 memory. I want to get the best memory I can for my computer. Are there different types of DDR3 memory, or is all DDR3 memory the same? What are the best brands to get? Anything I should avoid?

I did a google search to find out what kind of memory I have and found out I could use command prompt for that. I don't know what most of it means though. I took a screenshot so you can see what it says.

So your machine has 2 RAM slots, each with a 2GB RAM module.
Not sure if this machine accept more than 4GB. I suggest to ask at a computer-shop for advise or create a new thread on this forum. for example here.
