[SOLVED] corrupt autochk.exe

Your hard drive is getting close to it's Load/Unload reliability limit which is 600,000 (you are at 513,499).

Looks like you're due for a new hard drive. Your "Reported Uncorrectable" is also incredibly high. Long story short, on a technician point of view, I suggest you to back up all your data that you don't want to lose and start shopping for a new hard drive. This one might not have long left.

I don't think so, no. Are you able to boot in Safe Mode, and launch a CHKDSK /F from there? Or do you get the same error message?

I tapped F8 on reboot, went into Safe Mode with Command Prompt, tried chkdsk /f, and it said it could not run because the drive was in use by another process. It asked me if I wanted to schedule it for the next restart, I said yes, then on restart nothing happened.
Anyhow, Aura, it sounds like I have "worser" problems than Chkdsk not running!
I don't know how to replace a hard drive, and although this Dell E6500 Latitude has been a pleasure, I only paid $250 for it over two years ago. Guess I need to weigh new vs. refurbished.
I want to sincerely thank you for your guidance!

Latitude E6500 series machines are really good laptops. We used to have E6510, E6520 and E6530 at work. I replaced the E6510 with newer models since they were getting old and now I'm working on the E6520. Next year, it'll be the E6530. It's a shame that our new laptops are not even remotely close of the quality of these.

And no problem, you're welcome :)

It's way better :) 7.2k RPM, SATA3, you'll be set!
