Corruption persists

It's perfectly normal to have a lot of 'PendingRename' references in the SFC results - and nothing to worry about.

It's the first time I've seen your reference, so I'll have to do some reading around the subject to discover what's going on. It does seem like a much more elegant 'solution' than others I've heard proposed, but installing TelNet isn't something that I would have thought was necessary. It may be that it just flips the right switch in the registry, in which case it's that switch we need to find.

Shout if you haven't heard by Friday!

I was able to eliminate the uploading errors in the CBS by increasing the network filters to 14 (from a default of 8). I do not see any errors in the CBS at this time, however some of the pending delete could not executed. In the winsxs/temp folder should there be a subfolder called pending deletes as there is pending renames? If so, perhaps that is what's bothering sfc??? Just a thought. Ooops, my bad. It was a hidden folder but pending renames is not hidden?? Interesting. The files specified as pendingdeletes are associated with csrss.exe and asus suite 2. Why would they show as "deletes"?

Please post the whole CBS.log file - there is a lot of background data that may be helpful

My pending folders are fairly uninteresting - Renames is empty, but there are four '$$DeleteMe....' files in the Deletes folder, dating from the initial release of Windows 7 in there. I assume that they are residuals from the original WIM used to construct the installation media (so by definition, irrelevant! :))

This is from today. Just fyi, I did a new install of win 7 on a laptop and ran sfc which showed no integrity errors, but the cbs log was full of the same entries about unable to upload, duplicate ownership, etc. I am beginning to doubt whether the contents of the log indicate error and/or potential problems. It's sfc completing with no integrity violations that seems to matter.

The CBS log is free of any indications of errors (obviously, so is the SFC scan!)
The messages you are seeing are absolutely normal - please don't think otherwise!

ALL real errors are flagged as such.
Some minor errors are flagged as 'Warnings'
mostly, anything else, that is not directly related to an error message can be ignored.

The word 'error' doesn't even appear in your new log.
The word 'warning' appears once - as
Line 16: 2014-05-01 13:11:57, Info CBS SQM: Warning: Failed to upload all unsent reports. [HRESULT = 0x80004005 - E_FAIL]

This is perfectly normal - and is simply because the system attempts to send reports before the full OS is properly completed loading - and the firewall gets in the way (amongst other things - I'm not even convinced that networking is switched on at that point!)

The word 'fail' appears in only two other lines - prior to the one above in the boot process, and probably for much the same reason.

In the words of my grandfather - "Dinna fash yersen, sonny!" :)

Just for grins - what are the current content of the Pending folders?

The pending renames folder now contains about 3300 entries and form a zipfile of about 20 MB. Too big for uploading it seems. Interesting about the firewall connections. I also found that windows foundation feature must be enabled for sfc to function properly. Still investigating here. Will try attachment later, time for Grandson's baseball game.

That number of pendingrenames does seem excessive - finish installing all updates, then do a few reboots - the system may be waiting to complete a few things.

It seems that a while back I deleted the folder inetpub in order to minimize the partition image. It's hard to do the uploads when inetpub.exe is gone. ;+)
I have attached the latest cbs log. It looks good to me. We can close this thread. Thanks again for your help.

Ooops! - that could make a number of things rather difficult!
I believe that inetpub is also involved in a lot of local transactions as well. The folder isn't that large? It's actually only used by IIS, and only created when IIS is activated - most people (including me) don't need it at all, unless the machine is being used as a web server of some kind.
