DCs 2012 R2 do not update ...

Last week, the dozens of servers that have only the domains controllers that exhibit this problem and all the other 700 customers typically update

I know you may have done this already but please click the link to Check online for updates from Windows Update.

Let this run and let me know if it detects any updates.

Please do the following again.

1. Right-click your Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin).
2. Copy/Paste the following in to the command-prompt window and hit enter.
wmic qfe list brief /format:texttablewsys > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\hotfix2.txt"

3. This will create a file on your desktop named hotfix2.txt. Please attach this to your next reply.

OK. I finally think I have a handle on what is going on. Please do the following.

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Attempt to install KB3156013 just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as you get Access Denied. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your c:\windows\logs\cbs\CBS.log.

If the files are too large to attach, please upload it to a file sharing service like SendSpace or Dropbox and simply provide me the link.

I show that user TCERO\990667 is getting Access Denied to C:\Windows8.1-KB3156013-x64.msu.

Is that where you placed the windows update file? If so, can you please try putting it on the desktop and running from there?

Are you trying to install this update remotely through a remote shell or are you doing this locally on the server?

Can you zip up and attach the following logs?
-Any logs in the following directory: C:\windows\logs\dpx
-C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log

I would also like to take a look at the following event logs. Please do the following.

1. Right-click the Start button and choose Event Viewer.
2. Navigate to Applications and Service Logs...Microsoft...Windows...WindowsUpdateClient...Operational
3. Right-click on Operational and choose Save All Events As...name the file and save to your desktop (i.e. WUEvents.evtx).
4. Right-click on this file and zip it up. Attach to your next reply or upload to a sharing site and provide the link if it's too large.

Thanks.
