Dell XPS13 Laptop BSOD - Stuart - Windows 8.1 x64

Couldn't roll the driver back; rollback button is grayed out. I DL'd a bunch of updates from Dell to my tablet and Dropbox'd them to the Dell, but none of the EXE's run except the BIOS update. On all the others, I get a little screen activity and then nothing. So I have them all on the HD but I can't run any of them.

Any ideas?

Do a system restore to before you did anything regarding the driver that caused the download issue. Afterwards get the network driver update instead from Dell's site, then install it. If it's an .INF as opposed to an .EXE - windows 7 - Installing a driver's INF file? - Super User

Also, BIOS updates generally aren't installed via the OS. That's not a good idea, even it's possible (Asus' utilities for example). It's especially not a good idea to flash a BIOS on an unstable system.

I did the system restore but it did not change the version of the Intel N 6235 driver. All 11 of the Dell driver updates are EXE's so I'm still stuck here unable to apply any of them. Anything that has to do with the file system just craps out. For example, in addition to the browsers shutting down whenever I start a download, pgms like Excel cannot do a File|Open. However, if I double-click on an xlsx file in Explorer, it opens in Excel and saves properly when I need to save it.

This doesn't sound like it's being caused by the Intel driver at all at this point the more you go into specifics. You may have (or had) malware which when removed caused the browser issues, as well as the file association problems. The BSOD's may be from said malware, or maybe just a different issue that is coupled with the malware. You may not have or have had malware at all, and those issues are just a symptom of constant crashing. Driver updates are generally in the executable format, so I don't know why you cannot run any of them.

At this point, it may just be in your best interest considering all of the secondary issues to run a repair or clean install of Windows.
