The following might take several hours to complete. You can do it overnight if you like.

Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories.
Right-click on Command-prompt and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards.

Code:
chkdsk c: /f /r
At the question "Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)", press Y.
Restart the system.

Do not press any key during the restart. This will allow CHKDSK to start.
Wait for this to complete. Please note that this may take several hours. Let it run even if it looks like the process has stopped!
On completion, the system will restart automatically.

So, oddly this did not work even after two restarts. It just boots normal. The last time I attempted a chkdsk in windows it did finally end up going through but only after I booted the computer multiple times days later.

I am comfortable enough to do this off a boot disc so I will do that next and report back.

Jeremy

Well, I attempted the chkdsk off a boot disk and the boot disk threw an error of some sort. After multiple attempts to get back into Win7 it will boot but does not get to the desktop. I have a blank black screen with a cursor that I can move.

I'm leaning towards an issue with this motherboard is causing other issues. I have reached out to the company I purchased it from and I'm waiting to hear back. I haven't been able to use this computer since installing this motherboard due to multiple issues compounded.

Jeremy

P.S. I am able to utilize ctrl+alt+delete to pull up the menu like normally while in Windows. I attempted a restart through the power button located at bottom right but the computer just sits there on this black screen.

I have reached out to the company I purchased it from and I'm waiting to hear back.
I think we better wait for the response. Please report back when the issue is solved or persist.

Two months later I'm back, still no word yet from the seller of the P5E3 WS Pro mobo but I purchased an Asus P5P43TD for a decent price and am currently running on that.

So far chkdsk ran as it was supposed to upon startup from 2 months ago and I was able to install my graphics card drivers without an issue!

Jeremy

Sounds good. Can we mark this thread as solved ?

Unless there is anything other tests you would like me to try or registry error checks you would like to see?

Jeremy

I expected no remaining issues after the above. Are there any remaining issues left ?

I don't know. Tonight is the first time I have been able to use the computer as I was waiting on this new motherboard.

Once I install a game I will make sure no other issues are present.

Jeremy

Okay. Please report the result.

I was able to game for about 3 hours last night without any issues. I think this is resolved.

Thanks for all of the help PeterJ!

Jeremy

Your welcome. I will mark this thread as solved.

Take care.

Small update-

I noticed that SpeedFan (version 4.52) is sticking on -17 after an intermittent amount of time within windows (I have it setup to start with windows) and today after I booted into windows while on the desktop my monitor went into sleep mode saying no input. The only thing I changed was I played with clock speed a little and voltages.

I did a hard CMOS reset (pulled battery, turned of PSU and unplugged until all lights went off on mobo, then waited 10 more seconds) fired it back up, set CMOS time and day and restarted. BSOD error 0x0000007b. I was able to F8 into Windows and load previous known configuration and it is working.

System restore will not let me create a new restore point however.

Any chance the SpeedFan issue is related? I uninstalled and reinstalled twice now.

Thanks

Jeremy
