I can't seem to do that. I suppose it's locked cause it's a system file.

And yes, I'm an admin on the PC.

Restarting the PC didnt change anything.

Thanks

Replaced on safe mode. Went back to normal boot, retried update with process monitor. It failed. Here is the link for the PML, and cbs attached

Thank you. I fixed one more key. Please replace the hive again and then retry updates.

Hi,

Failed again. Here is the link, and cbs attached:

Also, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, but when I restarted my PC to go into safe mode, it now started showing "CPU Over Temperature Error! Press F1 to resume", and I can resume just fine.
The temps on my CPU cores are just fine (hovering around 50c, never passing 65c on load).

This only started happening now, after the component file was replaced. Does this have anything to do with it?

Thanks

Hi!

The error you are seeing is unrelated to this. The settings need to be adjusted in your BIOS/UEFI in order to prevent this from happening.

Sorry for the delay. I spent some time cleaning up my PC. It was due for a cleanup since it's been slightly over 2 years since I did. The internals were too dusty.

I didn't adjust anything, and the msg is no longer there. No idea what happened.

I replaced the components and retried the updates. It failed. Here is the PML link, and cbs is attached.

Something else weird happened. After I cleaned the PC, when I turned it back on, I checked windows update, and it only showed 1 important update to install. It didn't show me what I always used to see. It didnt even show any optional updates.
I didn't try to install it, instead, I clicked on check updates again. That update disappeared, and my usual list appeared.

This all happened before I replaced this latest component file. Is that supposed to happen?

I unfortunately didnt take note of the KB number, but I did notice it was the release date was Jan 14th 2020. The name had "security pack" or "service pack" in it. It also was a small update, not a big one.

Since we are making changes, such weird happenings are indeed possible.
