[SOLVED] Funktionsupdate 0x800f081f

You're welcome. This issue is complex and especially since this is slightly different to the most common issues...

So I'll need to do some research for this case...

Hi,

I was hoping that only a small number of registry components (and system files) were missing, but unfortunately it involves a huge number of corruptions in relation to very old and expired (preview) updates. So I would recommend to perform a repair install, this is the most reliable and quickest way to get this system up and running again.

Windows 10 Repair Install
This will reinstall and update the operating system and fix any corruptions, without removing any file or program. But make always a backup of all your important data!
  • Go to this Microsoft page and under the title Create Windows 10 installation media press on Download tool now.
  • Save the tool on your Desktop and double click to run it.
  • On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
  • On the What do you want to do page, select Create installation media (USB....) and then select Next.
  • Choose the ISO file option. Once the download is complete, right click the ISO and select the option Mount.
  • Open the Windows File Explorer and open mounted ISO, and run the setup.exe file.
  • Follow the instructions and click on the option Change what to keep.
  • Select the option Keep personal files and apps and click next.
  • Windows Setup will now start the in-place upgrade installation to repair Windows.

Thanks for your effort. I still have an Acronis image from April 23 to July 23. I could restore this installation into a VM and test whether Windows Update still works correctly here or does that make no sense since there are probably already errors in Windows Update? So far the updates have worked perfectly.
Could one benefit from this image of e.g. B. April export the components on the registry and import them into my current faulty Windows?

Hello, I have now carried out the InPlace upgrade. Windows Update is working properly again.

Many thanks for the help!

Hi,

You're welcome. Glad to hear the in-place upgrade has resolved all the issues.
I will mark this thread as solved then.
