Aw hell... Good thing I'm not a traditionalist! :lol:

This is like the difference between a "Bimmer" and a "Beemer"! :hysterical:

It could be a product of geography but more likely a matter of time (when you learned what you learned) and the vernacular of group from whom you learned it.
I will generally always use the phrase rather than the spelling whenever possible but as others have pointed out such use is contextually sensitive.
Sequel = SQL
Gooey = GUI
Eye-So= ISO
But again, I'm pretty old and sort of stuck in my ways.

Tom-ay-toh, Tom-at-oh, some people say it differently as well :)

You guys are too young to remember when few had BMW's and no one really knew what they were.

My dad had a ~1985 BMW 635 CSI similar to -

I had it at college one weekend and a friend was with me. He kept looking around, pressing buttons, then finally asked "dude... what kind of Toyota is this?"

I hit the gas, he fell back in his seat, buckled up as the speedometer rapidly climbed to over 100 mph. :lol:

According to my wife, it is "Sequel" only when referring to Microsoft SQL!

Hey John... I drove an '86 BMW 325e for a while. I have always been a fan of German cars, but prefer my overpriced Volkswagen!
