Help repair corrupt files

I need to know exactly what is happening.

So I assume you were able to open a command-prompt. When you opened the command prompted I assume your prompt was C:\Users\YourUserName

Then you typed ftp and hit enter.

I'm assuming at this point your prompt didn't look like the following but instead you got the error that you mentioned correct?

The only way would be if you can attach the picture to your reply. Did you understand my question? When you typed ftp and hit enter on your keyboard, were you presented with an ftp> prompt or did you have something else happen?

I have another computer I'm trying to log onto right now
as far as a thumb drive I'd have to look.
I don't have one handy. I can get one and we can pick this up tomorrow if you are available

I need to access whether this is a malware issue, hardware issue or software issue so I can determine the best avenue for support. Please do the following and like you said we can pick up tomorrow. Take care.

Safe Mode With Networking
1. Click your Start Orb and type msconfig in the search box and hit enter.
2. The System Configuration screen will come up.
3. Click the Boot tab
4. Check the box under Boot Options for Safe boot and then choose the Network radio button.
5. Click OK and reboot when prompted.
6. This will boot your computer into Safe Mode with Networking. Let me know if your browser works.

Ok. I understand. I did a sfc /scannow a few days ago and it said I had corrupt files that could not be repaired

Hi Brian, I was able to get that flash drive and get an older Sony Vaio laptop up and running so we can proceed whenever you are ready. Thanks, Lynn

Btw, browser does not work in safe mode. IE opens and says the page cannot be displayed. Firefox Crashes immediately and a window comes up saying Firefox have a problem and crashed unfortunately crash reporter is unable to submit a crash report

Code:
Btw, browser does not work in safe mode

I assume you mean Safe Mode with Networking?

Awesome that you have another machine and USB drive.

First thing I would like to see is the chkdsk log. That way you can get used to moving info from one machine to the other via USB drive.

Get ChkDsk Results
1. From your good computer, download ListChkdskResult.exe by SleepyDude and save this to your USB drive.
2. Plug in your USB drive into your issue computer and then run the program.
3. Notepad will open with some information in it that I need.
4. Please select the file menu and choose save as and save this to your USB drive.
5. Plug the USB drive back into your good computer and then attach to your next post.

Thank you.
